Dream opponents for '09-'10 season

Post by The Niz »

If we the fans had the power to pick next years OOC Skeddy, who would we pick? With all the talk of our OOC sked this year being the cause for not breaking into the top 25, I'd like to know who everyone would like to see us play. One could even go so far as to say which games at home and which away if he/she so desired, although it seems obvious to me that we want all the games at AA :-D

The teams I would kill to see in AA are:

OSU (for the obvious reason that nothing would be better than spanking them in front of all the OSU homers around town)

UM (because the football team won't ever get the chance to  )

MSU (because I want revenge for the WNIT loss)

Vols (the chance to take down the biggest dog in the yard)

UCONN (Win or lose, its the number one team)

MTSU/SDSU (I want to know whothe true mid-major power is)
Yeah right girl!

The obvious problem to your theory about who to challenge, preferably next year...you KNOW that UCONN,OSU,TENN are NEVER gonna come here to Anderson... You might be able to get home and home deal with some of the others; perhaps when the new arena is built, things could change, but even then, I don't see the "Biggies" taking a chance on coming to lil ol BG. Be nice to see though.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

I'll take a stab at this just for fun

OSU- Only because of it being in state.
Michigan, Minnesota, IU- Three midlevel Big 10 teams that would be good gauges to where we are before the conference starts.
Middle Tennessee- They have had the same success we have had for about as long as we have.
Marist- Another team that is a very good mid major
Houston- A top 4 C-USA team with a lot of talent in the Sophmore and Freshman classes, only three upperclassmen on the roster this year
Boise State or TCU- Both teams that are good within their conference, TCU was ranked in the top 25 for a while
Cincinnati- Coach Hall is trying to build a Big East level team there, and had some good success in the nonconference there this year, would give us another good gauge where we when it comes to teams in Ohio that aren't in the MAC

Those are just a few that I would pick from. I would say they only need to get a couple of them. Scheduling Temple and Hartford was a good choice at the beginning of the season, but Temple lost their coach, and Hartford just hasn't been as good as people thought, with the exception being the win over Duke.

I guess I forgot to put a disclaimer about this not needing to be realistic somewhere in there.

The word "dream" pretty much summed that up for me.

I thought maybe it would, we know how people like to point out flaws in others ideas though, so I usually make sure to word things effectively.

I vote for the following teams, mainly due to the parameters of travel, cost, etc. Why not play some of the decent teams who would help our RPI and SOS but aren't too far away?!?!

MIDDLE TENNESSEE (could become a classic, annual event!!)
MARIST
NOTRE DAME (almost did it two years ago....how about another try?)
PURDUE
MICHIGAN STATE (possible revenge on our minds?)
OHIO STATE
VANDERBILT (revenge would be on THEIR minds, I'm sure)
XAVIER
PITTSBURGH
LOUISVILLE

With only losing GOLDS this year and then only ONE starter the FOLLOWING year with TARA - coupled with two years of RECRUITS?!?! Why, the next couple of years are lookin' absotively spectacular!! I would think all WBB fans would be, to use a Curt Miller word - ECSTATIC - to play any of the above teams. It would be so much fun to make a MAJOR mid-major statement, don't you think? (I'm panting just thinking about it!)

I would love to see some sort of BracketBusters type of event, similar to what the men have. It would be nice to get the chance to play an SDSU or MTSU this year, to see how we stack up, as well as to give us a chance to improve our NCAA at-large chances.
