Interesting tidbit: Francine Miller, the most recent previously held record holder of 35 points in a game (TWO TIMES - once in 2001 and once in 2000) was HERE at The House That Roars this past Sunday versus Central Michigan when Lauren broke the record............

Interpretation? it was DESTINY!

Okay, maybe not...........but still! She is a super loyal alum who visits when she can....... I wonder how she was feeling on Sunday? Had to be great and sad at the same time, I would imagine.

EDIT: Destiny does NOT include overly-fervent fans mis-recognizing famous Falcon WBB alums...........see my post later in this thread.

Funny that you should raise the question re: a player's feelings when their records are broken. Perhaps they all like to use the same cliche, but I think most athletes realize that records are made TO be broken later. My son's scoring records in Lacrosse at both Walsh Jesuit and OSU have gone by the boards, and he says this same thing all the time. "someone was going to do it" or similar.

Exactly. I have a record still holding from the Defiance Relays in track and field, where our high school team broke the old combined team throwing record by 40 feet or so. It's still standing, but if and when it is broken, I hope it is broken by another Fremont Ross team so that the record still says Fremont.

I got to witness my high school high jump record get broken. It was bittersweet but not too bad since I only held the record for about 13 minutes. Our other jumper tied it on the next jump, then broke it on his first jump at the next height. Still, it was a great 13 minutes.

I set the school record for batting average as a junior in high school. I care so much about it that I have absolutely no idea if it still stands.

I think players are a little happier when their record is broken, because it means the school is doing well and has talented players representing them

Saw former Womens BB Coach Fran Voll at the game Sunday, too. In fact he made sure he saw Lauren to congrat. her.

Also saw Megan McGuire, former Womens BB great at that game.

Well, I extend my humble apologies to the readers of this thread.......

Have you ever looked at a media guide and noticed how similar Francine Miller and Megan McGuire look with their facial features? (ignoring the hair?)

My overly-enthusiastic excitement at seeing former players sitting on the east upper side of AA at the Central Michigan game, combined with Lauren's record-setting moment, coupled with my age has contributed to an error that I readily admit.

Francine Miller was NOT present at the game (that I know of) ....... that would have been Megan McGuire that I saw.......who - - in her heyday, scored a mere 1,062 points in her Falcon career.

I am sorry Megan, sorry Francine..........(wherever you might have been on Sunday)........and sorry fans.

Angie Farmer on Sunday. I saw someone head out to the lobby during the game, and asked the guy sitting next to me if it was Angie, but he didn't see her. I meant to watch for her return to point her out, but then I missed it.

Was she there?

Liz Honegger was at the game Sunday as well. She was in line behind me at the concession stand. I asked her how her H.S. team was doing and she said they had lost the sectional championship the night before. But, she said she really enjoyed being a head coach.

I always liked Liz... what a nice person!
