Another MAC flop!

Post by OSUFALCON »

5 of the 6 best teams in the conference yesterday lost in the bracket buster. Buffalo blows an 11 point first half lead, Miami blows a 15 point first half lead, Akron blows a 18 point first half lead and BG loses at home to the worst team in their confrence (MAAC). I guess I'll beat a dead horse again this confrence blows this year!

Kent St. looks like they are on a roll right now. We will see Thursday if BG can derail them.

Looked more like a conference buster. Not a very impressive showing.

Two words: Who cares?

It's not like any of these games matter in the big scheme of things. Nobody was going to the NCAA tournament as an at-large this year, and these games weren't conference games. So what if we lost to Canisius? We still beat Buffalo on Wednesday, which made this a damn good week IMO.

You should care. As a fan of BG, your a fan of the MAC. The better the MAC, the better BG will be in the future. If the MAC is good, you can have better competition and bring in better recruits and have better shots a making the tourney as maybe an at-large team. The MAC showed this past weekend it is far from a good conference. It was a pretty embarrassing weekend for the MAC. It just amazes me when you compare the talent level from 8 - 10 years ago and the talent level of today in the MAC how much difference there is. Worlds apart.

It is absolutely disgusting to compare the talent in the MAC from when I was in school ('98-'02) to now. I don't know what we can do about the overall conference, all we can do is focus on BG. Still, it is a shame to see what was always a conference that got screwed out of a 2nd bid turn into a conference that doesn't even come close to deserving one.

Well said and well said! It seems that many schools in the conference and the leadership within the conference have a attitude of oh well we are the MAC would do you aspect. I do see some promise in next years teams (Akron, Ball St.,BG, Central and Western) but the rest of the league looks as bad or worst than this year.

I guess you don't have to care, but as a simple observation, the MAC has really fallen in basketball. Check out the MAC website and look at our record against other conferences this season. It isn't good.

How does it happen? How do you go from a Top 10 conference to what we are today, which is below the Horizon.
