Tip of the hat and kudos to the Memphis and NIU fans at AZZ.

Post by NWLB »

I have to say that of all the OOC games, bowl or otherwise, the Memphis fans have been a genuine pleasure to have on our board. They have shown nothing but polite respect, thoughtful insight, and true interest in whom they are playing.

For that matter I'd also relate that to the nice folks from Mobile who are going out of their way to be gracious hosts; as well as our friends at NIU who have shown others how to be a rival with class.

I would hope our respective athletic departments might consider working to establish a slate of non-conference games in the future. I think fans from both schools would find them attractive home games.

Likewise I hope that whatever changes come of the MAC divisions, we do get to continue what has become a very enjoyable, if frustrating series with NIU. The value of that game to the member schools and the MAC has only grown with each year.

To be fair, the Miami alumni and fans have also been friendly this year as well. I think AZZ and MiamiHawk talk are the most mature communities within the MAC. They stand above even those of major conference schools.

At some point, maybe tonight, I'll have to see if I can get my R. Lee Ermy avatar loaded, if it is small enough. I have a version of him from FMJ, with his uniform retouched in brown, with a Falcon logo in place of the Global, Eagle and Anchor, as he is yelling "ahhhh, thats a war face!"

I will second that one. Miamihawktalk is a great place to hold actual conversations and the fans are nice.
