I don't care what level of college football a kid plays. They step out to practice and/or play this game, I respect them. It's a priveledge to play the sport at any level. However, the fans.....Someone else said on AZZ they love the look they get when they tell someone they are a BG fan. I get it everyday at work. My office has BG stuff all over it. Yet clients, and even my superiors, will ask who my favorite team is? I tell them BG, then they'll have a dumb look on their face and say, but what's your favorite college football team? Again, I tell them BG. I've even had people tell me that BG sucks, why do you root for them? Perfect strangers tell me this because I don't root for OSU.

Do we have a chip on our shoulder here at BGSU. YUP. I love it. Every mid major should. To me, these mid major programs are REAL college football. It's a good, close, fun, family atmosphere.

To whoever said "try going to a BG hockey game and tell me the fans suck"

I went to just about every hockey game when I was there for the simple fact that there was nothing else to do in that shitty town and I am telling you THE FANS SUCK. First, only like 100 students even show up, and maybe 200 townies.

Half of them leave after the 2nd period to get to their parties.

It only sounds halfway noise because the crap hole arena is so small.


So the basketball team lost three games in a row. They are still in the tournament, they drilled Penn State and are back in 4th place. Lighty will come back for the tournament and they will probably surprise a few and make a run at the sweet 16 when not many give them a chance to make the 2nd round.

The OSU hockey team just split a weekend series with UM and were #13 at the time. They are harder to follow when you are not on campus since they are not on TV. I don't go out of my to check the OSU website for scores every weekend but I keep tabs as much as I can.

So what if Jenkins ran slow. Everyone runs slower at the combine. He will run in two weeks at OSU's pro day and improve the time dramatically.

You probably would have bashed James Lauranitus as well until you realized they Rey Mualaga (however the F you spell his stupid name) ran worse.

How about Donald Washington's 11.3' long jump or his 45.5'' high jump (best at combine by 2''). How about Robiske's performance? Hartline's? Funny you only focus one bad performance and ignore those who rose their stock dramatically.

Besides, the combine only determines who may get drafted higher. It doesn't mean that the player will make it in the NFL. It just means that someone will likely waste a lot of money on them. Jenkins won't fall to 2nd round...at worst he will go #25 to Miami. Since they signed Yeremiah Bell, Vernon Carey, Channing Crowder and Gibril Wilson their biggest need is a CB. Jenkins would be a blessing if he falls that far. Sometimes the late picks are the ones who go to the hall of fame.

So maybe you should ease up a little instead of continuing to portray yourselves as jealous wannabe's.

Your point would come across a lot more effective if you actually debated instead of doing anything you can to take a negative tone and bash them continuously. They have what you want to become. Live with it or cry to yourselves.

Your point was totally diminished after your first sentence. You waste a post talking about BG fans suck because they stereotype OSU fans and in that one sentence you did the same thing. My beef, along with many on here, are not Ohio State's sports themselves but the "Holier than thou" attitudes of their fans. You are doing nothing more than advancing that stereotype most times you post. Perhaps you should take your own advice and not talk about another school's team. You would greatly strengthen your position.

No, I don't want to be Ohio State. I want to be Bowling Green. But I would like it if Bowling Green were as respected as Ohio State, instead of treated like second class citizens. In most sports, the two schools compete directly against each other, so why treat it as though we're talking about an MLB team playing their single A affiliate? If I must be forced to accept that BG is somehow a lower tier team than OSU or any other Big Ten school, then by the same proxy, OSU fans need to be made to accept that their team (and the rest of the Big Ten) is a lower tier than schools in conferences like the Pac-10, the Big 12 or the SEC.

I personally have no problem with someone being an OSU fan. I am not one, but I am also a Tennessee fan in addition to BG. (With BG at the top for me.) I understand growing up in Ohio and rooting for OSU, even though I grew up here and didn't become a Buckeye fan. I see no reason why someone can't be a fan of more than one school. The only thing that bothers me is when someone goes to a BG game wearing OSU attire, or leaves said BG game to go watch OSU on tv. You don't see me leaving a BG game to watch Tennessee. And you can argue that it's because those people are bigger OSU fans than BG fans, while I claim to be a bigger BG fan than UT fan. Well, if I were at a Tennessee game, I wouldn't leave it to go watch BG either. When you're at one game, I think it's only right to support that team. Besides the fact that I'd rather watch a game with a team I like live than watch another team I like on the tv. (Now, there are of course exceptions. I might stay home entirely from a UT game to watch a big BG game if it were on TV, but this is assuming that both are just run of the mill, regular season games. Either way, If I were at a UT game, as long as they weren't playing BG, [should that ever happen] then I wouldn't be wearing BG gear, and I would stay there for the whole game.)

First of all, 300 people at the hockey games. FALSE! Last weekend's attendance was 3,311, and it wasn't even in the top 5 of season attendance.

Second, Wisconsin just owned the Suckeyes in Madison. Ohio State is a one and done team in the tourney.

Also, don't say we want to be like Ohio State, because we don't. Who would want to be like the team that everyone outside of Ohio hates with a passion?

Puhlease. Thats not even close to true. I have tons of relatives from other states, and OSU is always well represented when I visit.

By the way, your Badgers have lost 7 of their last 12 games. AND they beat OSU by FIVE!! How that is owning someone I'll never know. You wanna talk about owning? Lets talk about women's bb, Ohio State 75 UW 53!!!!!!!
