BG shows up in Bracketology as 16 seed vs. UConn
I don't care what seed BG is....they could even label the Falcons as "bird seed" for the event.....just as long as we could actually make a trip to play in the NCAA Tournament!!! BG hasn't been to the NCAA Tournament in 41 years for crying out loud. How many of us on here were even born the last time (1968) that happened? I certainly wasn't. Who cares what seed or who we could play just as long as we can just get there in some of our lifetimes! After seeing NCAA-worthy BG teams in 1997, 2000 & 2002 come up short of the Big Dance, I just want to get there. I'll worry about seeding and opponents in our next trip.
GO BG!!!

A 16? Wow, how far the MAC has fallen. This doesn't necessarily mean BG is "16 seed quality," however. Lunardi takes conferences like the MAC, which are only going to get one team in, and projects the conference leader to make the field. Then, he uses RPI (I believe) to determine seeding. BG's RPI isn't horrid (176 at last check), but it would apparently be one of the 5 lowest in the project field of 65. Miami has the best RPI in the conference right now (79), and would receive a 13 seed at best, quite possibly even a 14. As everyone knows, the MAC is down.

If we make the tourney by winning the Mac tourney, i'm guessing we won't be a 16. Here's why. If we win like we have to in order to get in, they'll be at leaast 2 conferences who's top seed to get upset, making them one of the five lowest RPI teams. A team like Jacksonville, American, Bobby Morris, Morgan State or Binghamton (who I have to believe Lunardi is giving a 15 seed to to make Tony Kornheiser happy) loses their tourney and BG wins the MAC tourney, they'll move to a 15 or so.
It's all fun to talk about it, but BG needs to win. End of story. It's fun to day dream, but we're putting the cart ahead of the horse if we're bitching about a seed in the NCAAs!

Yeah, right now, BG has 0 wins against RPI top 100 teams (Buffalo is at 101). A win against the Hawks might bump our RPI up, but I think 15 is the best we can hope for.RedHawk65 wrote:A 16?
