Is home game with Wyoming in jeopardy?
According to ESPN, there are rumors...rumors mind you...that BG may have a "...scheduling conflict..." with our home game with Wyoming on October 3rd. But how about Miami digging into their pockets to pay out $750,000 to cancel their game with Colorado to play Kentucky for their opener. Sheeesh!

Re: Is home game with Wyoming in jeopardy?
If this proves to be true, who will we blame THIS time? Last time it was OU who screwed up, if I recall correctly, and the dominoes fell, costing us a home game against Boise. How the heck can we schedule too MANY OOC games?...or is this part of the problem with an uneven number of teams in the MAC, especially E.Div.? Since I was planning on bringing my daughter and grandkids to at least one game again this year, I was anticipating the Wyoming game as a good one to see for them. Now?????Sidejudge wrote:According to ESPN, there are rumors...rumors mind you...that BG may have a "...scheduling conflict..." with our home game with Wyoming on October 3rd. Miami will not be paying Colorado $750k
In fact it appears that BG or Toledo may end up hosting Colorado this year.

Wouldn't mind hosting Colorado at all. To me it seems like the best scenerio would be dumping Wyoming on Akron and picking up Colorado. Its doubtful Wyoming would care, they have a better chance against Akron anyways.NickSkin wrote:Miami will not be paying Colorado $750k

Of course, you're ASSUMING that Akron's open date co incides with the MU-Colo. scheduled game...and that BG vs. Wyo. ALSO is scheduled for the same date... lots of ifs, ands or buts...BgWaRrIoR wrote:Wouldn't mind hosting Colorado at all. Speaking of But(s), I would think that Akron's new stadium might be an attractive TV situation for the Buffs too.... I hate like heck to see BG get screwed out of a game again (and I still think was OU that had the foul up, not that it makes any difference now). But I'm also ASSUMING that Colo. would be a heck of a better draw for us than Wyoming would be...so who knows.

If we indeed ended up bringing Colorado here instead of WY, I can't say that I'd be sad at all but if we ended up bringing in a worse opponent like a D1-AA team or something , then I'd be pissed. I hope we aren't losing too much money for doing this if we are dropping the Wyoming game.

Man, hosting Colorado would be pretty cool. I gotta feel for Wyoming in that their future is in the air and worse, in the hands of the MAC scheduling folks.
If we come out of this deal still playing Wyoming at home, I'll be happy. If we come out of it playing Colorado at home, I'd be pumped! That would be a great opportunity for our team and for Coach Clawson to have a home and home with two Big 12 teams in his first year.

I just hope whatever hangup BG may be having with its schedule is something in our favor, such as a possible change to improve our situation - like hosting Colorado (with a return to beautiful Boulder) and having Wyoming's return game down the road (say in the next year or two), and not that Wyoming is trying to back out all together such as the recent problems we've had with USF and FIU. I found it very curious that FIU was able to make its way to Northwest Ohio last year and play Toledo.
GO BG!!!
The ESPN blog has been updated with comments from Christopher and Chryst:
http://myespn.go.com/blogs/others/0-4-1 ... uling.html
The headline scares me but it's not as bad as it sounds. A couple comments from Christopher:
"What I've told Rick [Chryst] is that we're fine with the four games we have now," Christopher said. "We've got four contracts and we expect to play those four games. If there is a scenario that would help the conference or help Bowling Green, we would be willing to listen to that. One of things we don't want to do is go to five home games and seven road games. This is the first time in I don't know how many years that Bowling Green is in a position to have six home games. It's something that when I got here was important to get that sixth home game. That's something I want to keep."
