NEWS ON SLAGLE?

Anyone have the scoop on Jessica? Love her coming in from off the bench with her defense and slashing to the basket! Hope she is well enough to get some minutes at the Q this weekend!

I heard she was supposed to be getting an MRI today. Not sure though.

Leaving Anderson on Saturday, I heard on the radio during the coach's interview that it wouldn't be surprising if she was back on the floor practicing today. But, that sounded like a bit of a rosy, uber-optomistic statement, as Coach Roos admitted that she had not had a chance to learn the extent of the injury.

As someone who has had knee problems, though, I have to say that it didn't look good at all. I couldn't tell what exactly happened when she went down in the first half, as it looked like she just banged her kneecap on the floor (I was shielded from seeing exactly what happened by other players on the floor). But, I have to assume that her knee was in a weakened state after the incident. When she went down in the second half, she was cutting to the baseline out on the wing on defense. Her knee simply collapsed, and it reminded me a lot of my initial knee injury, which was patellar displacement. The kneecap slips to the side of the joint and back, potentially doing some pretty severe damage to the tendons surrounding the joint. It isn't fun.

The bottom line is that I'm holding out hope for Jessica, but man did it look bad. If it were any other coaching staff, I would question the decision to bring her back in the second half, but I know how much this staff cares about it's players, and it isn't as though we're desperate to find a way to win games.

Sunday

Her left knee didn't look so very good at the men's game on Sunday.

Maybe it was immobilized just for precaution.
