Does anyone know or have access to Mike Emrick's email? I figured it would be important to send him an email to possible talk about this situation during the NBC game at 12:30 on Sunday. Obviously with him getting his Doctorate at BG, I hope he'd be concerned about it.

Okay, now apparently I'm fat and don't know anything about hockey even though I'm a size 8 and have been a hockey fan all my life.
I think I'm going to stay away from there for a while
My best friend invited her whole friend list and one of her friends from Cleveland invited his entire friends list too!

Okay, I sent an email to the New Jersey Devils Public Relations staff and directed that it reach Mike Emrick. Here's what I wrote.
Hello,
This email is intended to reach Mike Emrick, play-by-play announcer of the Devils. I hope that it reaches him.
My name is Jeremy Pellek, and I'm a Senior at Bowling Green State University. Mr. Emrick is an alumnus of our university, having earned his Doctorate here in TV and Film in 1976. With the current economic struggles affecting our country, BGSU is experiencing budget shortfalls between $6-$10 million for this coming fiscal year. Many cuts have been discussed, including the varsity hockey program. The hockey program, while recently not obtaining success of the past, has a deep rooted history and tradition at the university. It has won the school's only national championship in 1984, and has produced numerous NHL players throughout it's existence.
On Facebook, hundreds of students from both BGSU and other schools have pledged their support towards the program. Also, former players from the program are organizing a group to plead their case to the university for why the program should be kept, as well as those involved in the local community. I, and the rest of the BGSU and college hockey community urge this message be passed along to Mr. Emrick so that he at least be made aware of the current situation regarding the program, and his alumni, and urge his support.
Thank you for your time.

Also, I sent an email out to John Buccigross at ESPN. He's the resident hockey writer and he graduated from Heidelberg, so he knows the area well. He writes a weekly column every Tuesday, so I suggest we write to him as well for some mention in his column next week.

Amazing amount of support I have seen for this program in the past 12 hours alone... this is making national headlines... amazing.
I just invited all 328 BG people from my Facebook friends list to join the group. I hope some of the alumni can pull together and help us fans/alumni/hockey supporters out. Here's to hoping for the best!

With over 1,000+ in the group now, I'm wondering what the best course of action is now? Do we demonstrate outside McFall? Continue the mass mailings? Keep notifying the press?
Or is this a problem that's better solved financially? Do we need to set up a fund to help sway the U.?

I didn't even see that!! Sh*t!! I said this when the rumor came out in Dec, the Unv. needs to come out and flat out say the rumor is untrue! AND NOW THEY NEED TO MORE THAN EVER!!!DWhite21 wrote:I don't know what to make of the fact that Kyle Sucher, a recruit that's coming in a few years, wrote on the wall for the Facebook group. Then again, I guess it is national news in the college hockey community. Most, if not all of our recruits, are hearing this news.
If BG isn't ending the program this rumor could. We have some great recruits lined up for the next few seasons and a good bunch of current players (who are getting upset "that the unv. is cutting the program")!!
No one wants to play for a program thats finished in a year or two, if the rumor isn't killed players could leave and recruits could back out!!!
Guys, I got a response from Coach York at BC. Thanks Coach York, anything you can do will be much appreciated!

I for one will gladly send in $100.00 if it helps save Falcon hockey. It is the least a big College Hockey fan and former Wood county resident (that learned how to skate on the 'old rink) can do!MACMAN wrote:Now that people are listening and see the cloud over top of the program and seeing how many people want to see Falcon hockey live.
What if each of these people donated 100.00 to save Falcon hockey, if we could raise the 4m to fix the place up, it would be a large victory.
$100.00
I would gladly donate $100.00, if I knew that it would help save the hockey program. I was there, in Lake Placid, in 1984, and that was the most memorable experience in all my days as a Falcon fan. I have been employed at BGSU for almost 24 years and will always support athletics, but doing away with the hockey program without even making an effort to save it, is wrong. Like the old saying goes, it is better to have tried and failed, than to have never tried at all. I'm not sure we have given it a 100% effort.
That explains the "tan".TheKa wrote:FYI, that Campisi kid should know better...he was raised in BG...
