Him saying that is all I need to know we are going to the WNIT, granted I felt before the tourney if we didn't win it we were WNIT bound. I know we would all love for the team to make the big dance, and we probably all believe they should, but thats life at the level we are at. On the men's side I'm sure fans of St. Mary's and San Diego State feel the same way. As for the WNIT hopefully we did enough to earn a first round bye and the shot at some more home gamesRollo83 wrote:Then Coach MIller is a presumptuous bastard too. See, this right here is a post right out of the doomsdayer mentality that this entire forum has slipped into over the last 24 hours. Without any thought to whether we hosted a game last year, without any thought to whether our credentials are good enough to be playing at home, we just go out and assume we're gonna get screwed because "we're BG, the little guy, and we always got screwed in the past so it's going to happen again now."BgWaRrIoR wrote:Home game....hahahaBGFalconfromCincy wrote:Him saying that is all I need to know we are going to the WNIT, granted I felt before the tourney if we didn't win it we were WNIT bound. Now that's not to say we won't be in the WNIT, even an optimist like myself has to admit there's a great chance our bubble will burst tonight. But to think we wouldn't be a #1 or #2 seed in the WNIT is ludicris.

WOW, Im not saying we wouldnt get to host, I'm merely stunned that you guys are thinking of this as a victory, to get a home game in the WNIT.
WTF. Thats not what I want. Now, can we at least wait until after tonight to start talking about the damned WNIT. Maybe we won't get in the NCAA, but MAYBE we will. All this pessimistic crap is getting on my nerves. I realize that we haven't made it in years past, but this is NOW. Im not one for counting my team out.......

First of all Warrior, you name me one person on this board who WANTS to go to the WNIT instead of the NCAA. To say that anybody wants that, is just ridiculous. Secondly, most people are trying to be realistic. Facts are facts. As soon as Coach came out and said that he expects to get snubbed, that gave everyone else a reason to start coming to terms that the WNIT was more probable. When you know how the women's game works, then you can come on here and make a post like the one you did. if you read my first post on here, I said that we should be in, and if you would like to know why we should be in before S. Fl, Rutgers, BC, Villanova, and probably S. Diego St, I will post it for you if you want. But don't come on here and tell us that we are being pessimistic, and that we are thinking of this as a victory that we would get to host a WNIT game. I didn't find this thread at all offensive, until you got on here and made that post that is. There is nothing wrong with thinking about the WNIT, because it is a good possibility.

Geeze,
It's fun to watch everybody bitch and moan. Who has the vendetta against gmartin? The word on the street was IF WE DON'T WIN THE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP WE GO TO THE NIT. Did I say that loud enough?
Yeah, I hope we get a second bid, I hope to win the lottery, and I hope I live to be 100. The NCAA thing is the best odds, but still not very probable and I'm thinking the lottery thing is second LOL
I'm not saying we were outcoached, or used less players than Ball State, becuase we weren't and we didn't, but we need an Ali Mann or a take-charge senior that doesn't want to lose and can carry this team. We needed to take what the refs were dishing out and adapt our style of play.
We needed a couple of scrappy players that realized that the pushes and travels were not going to be called and take advantage of the style of play.
That type of game may never happen again in a year, but it happened to us here. It's like my friend says, unless I'm the coach, I still had to get up and go to work today, so let's get on with it.

I think that by having a thread about the WNIT before anything has even been decided is pessimistic and I really could care less if you think that's not true. By speculating about where we will be in the WNIT, you are basically saying that our chances are none. If you really believed that we deserved a spot in the NCAA, then you would hold back on those comments until it is a reality.HoustonFalcon wrote:First of all Warrior, you name me one person on this board who WANTS to go to the WNIT instead of the NCAA. I dont care if we had the same record for five straight years and didn't get in to the tourney each time. Every season is different and has a different set of circumstances for the committee to consider. And unless you are on that committee, you cannot say that we will not get in with certainty. Hell, the fact that some are considering us as one of the last 4 in / first 4 out is exciting. Sure, its a great possibility that we will be in the WNIT. Its also a great possibility that the men will lose to Creighton in their NIT game. So i guess I'll just head over to the men's forum and start a 'Well it was a great season' thread.

Warrior, I think you are presuming things. There was only one mention in another thread about our record being better and our seeding in the NCAA tournament. Until you can understand how women's college basketball works when it comes tournament time, you need to just chill. We are dealing in reality. What the hell are you trying to prove with all of this BS. I haven't seen any doomsday messages that you or 24 are talking about. They all have said that they would rather be in the NCAA's. So what would you say to Coach Miller who said the exact same thing in a press conference. All of us know that we are one of the last 4 teams being talked about right now in the decision room. Slowly but surely college basketball is changing in the women's game. But having 18-21 wins with an above .500 in conference record will go further than 28 wins with a weak OOC record when they look at the big 6 and then the mid majors. Please don't try and tell me how I should write on this board when it comes to reality and women's college basketball. Unless you think you know more than I do.

martin, I read the other thread, and it is something that I eluded to in an earlier post yesterday. I don't know which one will be right, I'm hoping that we are on the right side of the debate. The one good thing about this years committee is that there are representatives from more mid majors on it this year. That could help.
