What I think we can agree on, is that with the level the program has risen to, I don't think we can afford many more OOC schedules like we had this year.
I know it's extremely difficult to get big name programs on there since they don't want to play us, but more series like we had with Indiana and Temple are what we need, in addition to programs like Marist, MTSU, ODU, etc. We need to play 6-7 quality teams in the OOC, along with some solid mids like we had in hartford this year in addition to a few cupcakes.
We don't necessarily need Duke and UConn, but we need Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Temple, Indiana etc. Solid middle of the pack power conference teams, and we need them every year. That's the next step to get this program the respect it deserves. Then we never have to have conversations like this again. If we go 8-5 against an OOC sched like NoDak St. played this year, we're a solid 10 seed right now.
I know Coach's philosophy has been to schedule down when we're young. and load up when we're experienced in an effort to be ready for MAC play, but I just don't think that flies anymore. To sustain the program, we need NCAA bids and big OOC wins. Once we get those, the MAC takes care of itself.

I would imagine that this is the case, as we are now suddenly listed in the AQ field.HoopsFan wrote:Maybe because we were on the bubble

I love how they phrase it "31 teams will earn an automatic spot via their high finish in conference". Like Arkansas, who finished eighth in the SEC.
"I don't believe I can name a coach, anywhere, anytime, anyhow, who did it better than Doyt Perry."
