Post by gmartin »

Ok, lets have some fun, who do you think BG will face in the first round.

JUST TO LET YOU KNOW!! WE WILL NOT BE HOSTING A FIRST ROUND GAME. WHY, ANDERSON ARENA IS BOOKED DURING THE FIRST ROUND GAMES HOSTING HIGH SCHOOL TOURNEYS. WE WILL NOT BE HOSTING A GAME

My guess is we will play Indiana. What are your guesses

We're in the same boat, though I'd prefer a game at Butler. :-D

Oakland was 27-5 in the Summit League.

The 31 automatic teams are now listed on the womensnit web site.

Best-case would seem to be a first-round bye and a second-round home game. Hope it happens...

I have no predictions, and I am not going to even try to pretend that I understand how all of this works. But I do have a question: If we were a bubble team for the NCAA tourney, shouldn't we be one of the top seeds in the NIT? I mean, if the NCAA selection committee was looking at RPI, strength of schedule, etc., and determined that we should be in consideration for that tournament, wouldn't it make sense that we would be a 1 or 2 seed in the NIT?

I know I'm probably applying logic to an illogical system, but I'm curious to know what others might think.

Your logic makes perfect sense to me...Unfortunately, logic would also dictate that a 28-4 team would be in the NCAA tournament, and not be getting screwed over in the NIT....

Having finally seen the final bracket thanks to the BG News (the link on the WNIT site still isn't working), that is clear now. Why in the world wouldn't they use the same system that every other NCAA affiliated tournament uses? I know that they are using a 48 team field (now) and that that complicates things in terms of using a traditional seeding system, but why not go to either a 32 or 64 team field to make things a little less confusing, and probably more appealing to the casual fan? This whole thing seems like a group of alcoholics were put in a bar and asked to come up with a post-season tournament format.
