"TION" WORDS FOR BALL STATE
"TION" WORDS FOR BALL STATE
Well, in my agitated, sarcastic, and severely P-O'd state of mind, I'd like to offer some words of "encouragement" to our Ball State Cardinal "friends" as they prepare of the NCAA tournament versus Tennessee. They might want to look the words up in Webster's Dictionary before this weekend - - just in case they want to READ about them and gain some understanding BEFORE freaking EXPERIENCING them:
1. ANNIHILATION
2. OBLITERATION
3. ERADICATION
I'm sorry, but guards Kiley Jarret, Audrey McDonald, and yes - - even 1st team MAC Porchia Green - - will be FREAKING EATEN ALIVE by the Tennessee guards. And, by the way - - let's not forget BSU's 4 position player Emily Maggert (hitting BIG shots in the MAC tournament final), and the 5 position player Danielle Gratton (hitting even a MORE HUGE GIGUNDOUS 3-POINT shot in the MAC final with barely 60 seconds left)...........: Welcome to the BIG TIME!! (Where, in case you were wondering - you will very soon FEEL like you belong in the "MINIATURE TIME".)
Gawd!! Could we EVEN hope for a somewhat decent conference showing in the NCAA tourney?!? Judges? BBBBRRRRRRRPPPPPPP! Wrong again. ANOTHER slap in the proverbial face to our "oh-is-it-EVER-TOO-mid" - MID AMERICAN CONFERENCE.
Tennessee by 30.
(And I can only wish, pray, and fervently hope - - not to mention desperately desire that my negative prognostication be wrong on SO many levels..........)
And LASTLY.......hmmmmm.....one can only WONDER: would WE be where BSU is if the results were reversed from Sunday?

And all this will take place in a game viewed by many in the n-ation and in Muncie it will cause a sens-ation as the Cards continue their celebr-ation and fulfill their NCAA oblig-ation Congrats to the Cards on a great season and to the Falcons on a trip to the N-ation-al invit-ation-al Tournament. Both teams have much to be proud of.

For all of you that are bitching about not getting into the tournament, and wishing ill will against Ball State, grow up. It is getting old already. How do you think we would do if it were us matched up with Tennessee? Really! We are a team that relies on the three, and when they aren't going down, we have a hard time. We have a hard time in the rebounding department on most occasions. Sure, we play great defense, and yes, when we are on we can play with a lot of teams. But come on, we aren't talking about a Ball State team that lost 10 to 15, and finished middle of the pack in the conference. They lost two conference games. They are a pretty good team. We lost, get over it. Our strength of schedule wasn't strong enough. We didn't have a signature OOC win. It's not our fault that Hartford wasn't as good as they were last year. Last year a win like that would have given us a better chance.
Now, about Tennessee. They aren't the team that won the last two national championships. Do I expect Tennessee to win, absolutely. Will it be close, I don't know. But what I do know is that a team that is very young sometimes doesn't play up to it's potential in the tournament. And that is very much a possibility. This is the life of coaching and playing in a mid level conference. You know going into the season that it probably won't matter what your record is during the regular season, you need to win the tournament. Coach Miller understands that, and I am sure that he is very happy to be able to still coach this team this year, and have practices. This is a very young team itself, and next year anything is possible. But quit hoping that Ball State get's humiliated. That doesn't do anyone in the conference any good, and it won't make anyone that selected the teams wish they would have put us in.

Houston,
I'm not sure that these guys WANT BSU to get creamed...just anticipate that it will happen... I give BSU credit for what they did on Sunday...came from a deficit to score 7pts. in a little over a minute, put pressure on us to create a turnover, AND, most importantly, hit the big shots in crunch time... We're used to this from our team, but it just wasn't to be. Still am tired of the "tradition" that says the MAC can "only" get ONE team in the tournament .... Both teams deserved to be in... But this is why I believe the MAC shoots itself in the foot...the regular season champ in a "one bid" conference should be the automatic qualifier..might take a bit away from the tournament, but reward 4 months over 4 days of basketball.
In the meantime, go Ball State...represent the MAC well... and obviously, go BG...let's get fired up for the WNIT.

I completely agree with this post. I have watched them play several times this year, and they are not the Tennessee we are used to seeing. While I fully expect them to win, I don't really think it will be a blow out.HoustonFalcon wrote:For all of you that are bitching about not getting into the tournament, and wishing ill will against Ball State, grow up. And, yes, it is disappointing that BG is not in the tournament, but we all should be hoping that BSU represents the conference well. That is one way we can start to gain the respect we all think the MAC deserves.

You sound like this guy.......
But really now, good luck to Ball State. Any positive pub for the MAC in the tourney can only be good for us moving forward.
More importantly, good luck to our ladies in their game this coming weekend. Yeah, we would have rather been in the tourney, but why don't we just take care of business in the WNIT and send Lindsey out the right way.
Finally a senior!
Ooookaayyyyy.......
Houston - - we have a problem. Please re-read my post. I'm NOT wishing ill toward BSU. I was wanting to root for our conference (and STILL am!), but was bemoaning the Murphy's Law about Ball State being stuck with Tennessee........Just ONCE, I'd like to see the "little guys/gals" catch a break. It was disappointing enough swallowing the bitter pill of the conference tournament, and then to see who the MAC has to face in the first round............
Please take a closer look of my original post (okay - I admit - RANT), you will notice that I'm HOPING for all success that we (the MAC) can hope for!!!!

I did re-read your post. And I am not going to agree with your premise that you say you are trying to bring now. Again, Tennessee is not the same team that has won all of titles and went to the sweet sixteen for 28 straight years. They are a team with 7 freshman. I think facing a team like that is a good thing. Who would you want to face? I'm sure the committee didn't look at the bracket and say "Ball State is in the MAC, so let's slap the conference in the face and let them face Tennessee". I think it is a fair seed, and a fair opponent. But what do I know?
Hi Houston -
All good points about Tennessee this year - agreed. And I'm not saying the committee had any of those thoughts that you are seemingly inferring from my post. I certainly don't believe intelligent folks sat around and said "let's slap the MAC's face"............I'm only saying that is how it FEELS.
And I'm tired of feeling that way for the "little conferences". (I'm trying to live on the 2007 joy, when BG beat a Big 12 team and then a SEC team, as well as Marist beating OSU ......that was a great mid-major underdog year.) But to answer your question - I would want to meet anyone in the tourney........
So - - in the end after 24 hours of mourning, I say: GO BSU! GO MARIST! GO GREEN BAY! GO MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE! GO MID MAJORS!!!! Win some for the LITTLE GUYS!!!
