Alumni Tailgate or Boo Radley's or. . .
. . . do it yourself.
Was wondering if anyone had any extra information or thoughts on the Alumni Pre Game Party. I know it is $25 a head and includes music etc. I liked the Alumni casual gathering I attended at a bar in Dekalb two years ago, but $25 a person seems a bit steep to me. Does this include all you can eat? Does it include beer? Will it be mostly middle aged people? (I am mid 20s so I am between bonging beers and sipping wine coolers stage)
Does it make sense just to tailgate at Boo Radley's? Is there food there? Is it a close enough walk?
Or should I pick up a case of beer and chicken drummies to eat in the parking lot?
What is everyone else doing?

We went to the alumni thing last year at the MCB. It was very nice and included an all-you-can eat buffet that was very good. I believe it was a cash bar.
Noah's pretty simple when it comes to food, so he didn't find a lot to his liking. I'm guessing that the "southern cooking" that they're promising won't be his cup of tea, either.
I'm hoping folks here will raise their hand if they're going to the alumni thing, because if so, we'll go anyway. If most folks say they're going to "tailgate," we can do that, too.
Boo Radleys sounds like a no-go for us.

Boo Radleys is just a bar-no food, and it along with all of Dauphin Street is about 5 miles from the stadium. No walking. Boo Radleys, atleast for the Miami fans, was a place to meet Tuesday and Wednesday night. There are restaurants within walking distance from Boo Radleys. Memphis is having a huge gathering at Jim Cannon's Brew Pub, which I guess there alumni put together. I think it begins at 9:30 after the fireworks and lasts until. Sounds like there's going to be a lot of blue on Dauphin Street.

At Boo Radleys, you'll find a good bit of young (21-30) Mobilians. It's kind of an upper-class (people-wise) hangout in Mobile. A really fun and good looking crowd. Y'all will get along great with everyone. It's also at the foot of Dauphin which makes for a great meeting place. From here you can decide to go to the martini bar, the sketchy rave bar, the sports bar, the dance club or just sit and hang out in the square. There's not many tables for sitting, pretty much just a lounge and socialize bar. Y'all should try and spread the word about meeting there Tuesday night after the fireworks.

On the advice of our friend Mobile Bama, our group of four 2004 grads is planning on tailgating in the stadium lot, probably beginning about 3:30 or 4 (check-in is 3).
So, if we want, we can all meet up there? I'm thinking that's going to be the best thing, and better than 25 bucks and sitting in a hotel room.
Anyone else?

I don't know what it is about future undergrads...but Legacy Boy doesn't eat much either and that's why $25 per person looks steep ...not to mention the air, hotel, etc.
I figure that we'll walk the lot after buying a can of Pringles, gatorade, and some Red Bull's then see if I can just pay for one at the tent.
Then after basking in the aura of a 34-24 victory we will dine at the waffle House near our Extended Stay on SpringHill Plaza Court.

I am in a similar situation (people backing out), Doughash. People backed out forcing me to drive down alone on Monday but my girlfriend will be flying in TUesday night.
Tuesday during the parade and pep rallies I'm hoping to meet up with some of you share drinks and chants of ay ziggy zoomba.
Maybe we can plan an informal tailgate session in the lot? Food might be kind of limited, not sure I could get the grill down there, but maybe.
