Stroh Center Ground Breaking
Is the ground breaking for the Stroh supposed to take place this summer? Does anyone know if we can expect additional graphic or artist renderings of what the Stroh will look like? List of amenities? I'm getting pretty pumped for some exciting BG hoops seasons ahead!

Re: Stroh Center Ground Breaking
From GC's interview with Horger it almost sounded like ground breaking would start this fall but I believe that its probably going to be fall of '10.BourbonFalcon wrote:Is the ground breaking for the Stroh supposed to take place this summer? The matter of the hockey program aside, it is exciting to have the project about to start. The more I consider it, the location is perfect. It gives a great first impression to the folks coming to BG. It is near the alumni center. It is closer to the Sebo, Ice Arena, and DLP. It will mean a huge boon to the places to eat across the street, and I think could trigger a building boom to the extent that is possible. Coming out of the recession it may bring long awaited development on the other side of I-75.
With sports camps, concerts, trade shows, gymnastics, men and women's BGSU basketball, high school basketball, high school football, BGSU football, soccer, BGSU hockey, high school hockey, figure skating, curling, youth hockey, you have a massive center of activity in a very small footprint. And you could toss the Field House and Golf Course into that mix.
Now if BGSU could find a better way to market all that buzz, get more mileage out of it. And if the city could get a couple more hotels, places to eat, and somebody to set fire to the Knights Inn, we would be set.

Agree with most of what you said, but gymnastics is slated to stay in Anderson Arena. You can replace them in your list with volleyball though! And add to that the athletic archives, "walk of fame" and the world's largest falcon statue!!NWLB wrote:With sports camps, concerts, trade shows, gymnastics, men and women's BGSU basketball, high school basketball, high school football, BGSU football, soccer, BGSU hockey, high school hockey, figure skating, curling, youth hockey, you have a massive center of activity in a very small footprint. My bad. Women in tight fitting uniforms, my mind spun into a blurr.ZiggyZoomba wrote:Agree with most of what you said, but gymnastics is slated to stay in Anderson Arena. The Big Bird will have to be guarded when games with toledo [sic] are near. That thing just screams for a coat of paint.
I honestly look forward to having a more accessible display of the athletic archives. Just looking over that collection gives you a feeling of the much greater depth of history BGSU athletics enjoys.
Now, if they could just cure the problem of the nasty looking football parking......

Strow big enough
From what I have read recently upon the passing of BK, AA used to really rock when the Falcons played - 6,000 fans according to Hack. Of course there were two future NBAers on the team then. But will Strow be big enough if for some unforseen reason b'ball becomes the only game in town once again during the winter months in future years? Interesting food for thought...
