As much as I hate Miami, it is nice to see them in their first Frozen Four. Especially after seeing them get knocked off by Boston College so many times before in the tournament. With them playing the winner of the Bemidji State vs. Cornell game, I wouldn't be all that surprised to see them in the Frozen Four finals.

They must be fighting hard to get into the WCHA
Despite Bemidji State playing in a crap conference (CHA) they are a WCHA callibre team. BSU plays WCHA teams often through their seasons and have held their own. Bemidji would easily be in low to middle of the WCHA standings. The team will only get stronger if they do join the WCHA and their new arena is finished.

If they don't get into the WCHA and continue as independent, it will be extremely difficult for them to schedule games.
Notre Dame is in the CCHA. I think football is the only sport that they're independent in, am I right?
Yes, football is the only sport in which Notre Dame is independent. They're in the Big East in everything else. (except hockey, naturally).

Notre Dame football is the exception rather than the rule though. Independent teams trying to schedule games have a devil of a time doing so.

Wow. Long afternoon/evening of great hockey. I naturally gravitate to the underdogs and was semi-pulling for UNH, though BU pulled it out at the very end ... the only #1 seed to make the Four. Just finished watching Bemidji dismantle Cornell 4-1 (wish I was in a bar in Bemidji right now). They beat Notre Dame and Cornell by a combined 9-2, and they are great fun to watch. It will be an interesting matchup between the Beavers and the Redhawks in a couple of weeks. Looks like a really odd-ball Frozen Four. Tear up the bracket sheets. I don't think anyone would have picked the '09 combination.

I can just hear it now "Bemidji has won the National Championship!" and then a loud cracking as hell freezes over

Bemidiji was playing on the next level, just amazing how they got it done. As much as I would like to pull for them, I will be pullling for the CCHA in that game and rooting hard for the redskins to win it.
In the other game Im going with Vermont all the way...I hate BU, and Vermont needs a finals appearance.

A one seed (BU), a three seed (Vermont) and TWO four seeds (Miami and Bemidji) advance to the FF?

Anyone who picked this bracket was either psychic or psychotic. :?

It has been a great tournament so far. How about the winning goal in the Vermont Air Force game? Have to say, I'd like to see Miami take it. Our other CCHA teams were a bust but the Red Hawks played very well and have to like their chances.

I think the Beavers top the Redskins.
