Those whiny, career victims are already trying to claim that the University's "propaganda" buttons and fact sheets 'confused' the students.
They also keep trying to say the "Stroh Yeah" t-shirts were paid for by the University. False.
What these whiners fail to mention is that in order to vote, you had to read a page that explained what a yes or no vote meant, then click through page by page of the USG resolution, then click your vote of yes or no, with each option explained again, then confirm your submission. If people messed it up, it's their own damn fault or they're functionally illiterate. Either way, it shouldn't have any bearing on the issue.

You know that the only circumstance under which this lot wouldn't challenge the results would be if Jimmy Carter, the United Nations, and ACORN had been there to 'observe' every vote cast, and their side had won by a 9 to 1 margin. Anything short of that, and it's FASCISM, they'll say.Peregrinner wrote:Those whiny, career victims are already trying to claim that the University's "propaganda" buttons and fact sheets 'confused' the students.

I wouldn't worry about it. You're dealing with children, and children throw hissy fits.
Edit: I did forget to add that this vote should help avoid any complications once it gets to the Board of Regents for approval. Not only did student government support it, but so did the students by popular vote in overwhelming fashion. You can't get much more of a rock solid case than that. This truly is a fantastic result!
From the halls of ivy...
It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work - work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it. ~Ronald Reagan

Couldn't agree more with both of you. This was a big victory for BGSU.Bleeding Orange wrote:You know that the only circumstance under which this lot wouldn't challenge the results would be if Jimmy Carter, the United Nations, and ACORN had been there to 'observe' every vote cast, and their side had won by a 9 to 1 margin. Wow, apparently there are at least 14 incredibly stupid people that are undergrads at BG (not counting all the people that voted "Yes"BgWaRrIoR wrote:Finally, we did not consider 14 responses where no “yes” or “no” vote was actually cast.

DickE3 will of course plead this, in front of cameras, while wearing an Ohio State jersey.BGSUfalcons wrote:I wonder if the losing side will claim that students were confused by the ballot and thought that 'No' meant 'Yes' and vice versa. After all, one can't expect students to be aware of such things, much like one can't expect students to stay abreast of the issues surrounding the Stroh, USG elections, and the like despite meetings, articles/notices in the school newspaper, signs around campus, etc.
EPIC FAIL CHILDREN!

No, that can't be it. The most likely explanation is that the ballot was too confusing. I heard that 8 of those 14 voted "Patrick J. Buchanan".murphdogg wrote:Wow, apparently there are at least 14 incredibly stupid people that are undergrads at BG (not counting all the people that voted "Yes"BgWaRrIoR wrote:Finally, we did not consider 14 responses where no “yes” or “no” vote was actually cast.)

"We are connected to this institution by invisible bonds that do not wither or dissolve."
69% of the students who voted got this. I hope when they are old and creaky like me they will still feel the pride of what they did for their University.
I am so very very very thankful for everyone who took the time to come to the aid of the Stroh Center and supported the USG resolution. And I can never thank everyone for all of the support of our family.
After a busy weekend, I finally have time to breathe and really, the sense of relief is overwhelming.

Isn't that a great quote?? I read that across the top of the Union a couple years ago and it's been my signature line ever since.always a falcon wrote:"We are connected to this institution by invisible bonds that do not wither or dissolve."
