Call the Arena what would prove to be something the students can relate too:

The Keg.

Across from

The Stroh.

I work at the post office here on campus, and when I was picking up mail from McFall, I noticed an envelope addressed to Mr. Vivian. It was either sent by the President's Office or the VP of Finance's office, judging from where I picked it up. There were also letters addressed to the Sebo family and a number of other high value donors. I think they might be making a big time push for getting these renovations sooner rather than later. This is all speculation on my part because I have no idea what was actually in the envelopes, but my best guess is that they are trying to get some of the big name donors to contribute to get the ball rolling on renovations

If you consider things, it makes sense they would push hard and fast, especially now that the students took a blunt object to the referendum.

The issue of BGSU Hockey, and the decrepit state of the Ice Arena are two really big, possibly really nasty issues that could create vast sums of ill-will across the University community. You can't save one without the other, and the failure of either one leads many deep-rooted community interests to suffer.

The University has become aware of a substantial amount of private money outside of BGSU athletic interests, focused on the ice-related needs.

The University seems aware that there is an intense amount of animosity between it and BGSU hockey alumni, which requires them to "show good faith," and provide a viable conduit for donations to where they are intended to go.

The University is acutely aware the BGSU hockey community won't go quietly into the dark, regardless. The very act of raising a stink itself was enough to make cutting hockey something to be avoided if at all possible. It did not have to be that way, but thankfully it was.

If the University can draw together some leading donations from the alumni community, mate them with private money in the community, provide the process for the hockey alumni to feel safe giving, then I think they could get the Ice Arena very fully renovated. Maybe in a way that exceeds our early expectations.

It remains then, for the BGSU Hockey fan base to push hard from the other direction, get tickets sold in large numbers, and clean-up the low-end donations.

Excellent news re: Jack V! As posted above, buy season tisckets. I would certainly hope we can at ;east triple our season tickets sold based on all the posts, excitement etc.

As I posted elsewhere, if you are not in Falcon Club now, join and designate hockey for your contribution. If you are a member, perhaps try to go up a level.

These two actions (season tickets and Falcon Club/hockey) are absolutely critical- as others have posted along the way. These two things are both tangible "emotional" support and actual monetary support.

Go Falcons!

If the season ticket base was in fact roughly 200 people, we need to sell vastly more than 600. More like a couple thousand at least.

It was slightly over 300 this year

Absolutely not. Pagliai's Arena...now you're talking!

Although, I think it's safe to say Pizza Hut as a corporation could put up more money than Pagliai's.

As a former Pizza Hut employee, I feel comfortable saying Pizza Hut has the best pizza of any multinational pizza chain. When you get down to local levels though, there are always far better places (Pagliai's, Myle's etc...)

And once again, we are far off topic

I love a good Pizza Hut pizza. And it is a nice enough place to visit, so long as you don't mind screaming kids, because short of Chuck-E-Cheese (my 1984, Granada Hills LL Farm Division championship team sponsor) you will never find more in one place.

But Campus remains my favorite pizza. A good friend and I had many long-form debates on political science over bread sticks and beverage there. Back when the place still had the mini stage for live music.

I remember seeing him at the Pagliai's on South Main a few times back in the day.

Typing that just made me really hunger for some of their stuffed bread sticks.......
