And if the donated tickets go only to the kids, the parents will need to purchase a ticket...murphdogg wrote:How about get people with season tix they can't use to donate them to local youth teams? It goes to a good cause, will help get people excited about hockey, and I'm pretty sure it would be tax-deductible if the right stuff was done

Sadly many parents would just drop off their kids and leave it to the arena staff to be free babysitters.pdt1081 wrote:And if the donated tickets go only to the kids, the parents will need to purchase a ticket...murphdogg wrote:How about get people with season tix they can't use to donate them to local youth teams? I've been off the forum for a few days, and this is wonderful news. Vivian has name recognition, hockey sense, and knows the bowels of the ice arena ... especially since nothing of much significance has changed in the building since he was on the bench. I was especially taken with his rather sharp comments ... "I never imagined in my lifetime that a program as successful as this one has fallen to such a pathetic level" and "It’s highly disappointing to me that the arena has been allowed to get into this predicament." I don't think he'll pull any punches and really, from his position on the outside, doesn't have to. This also says to me that the BG administration and board is getting serious about the situation while at the same time attempting to gracefully slide their butts off the hot seat.
I think what's a little encouraging is the fact that Mr. Vivian's services don't come cheap. Even if he's giving a "hometown discount" the University is still spending a pretty dime to have him consulting the arena.
I can only hope that the University is actually serious about this and not just giving us some warm and fuzzies to shut up the vocal majority.

The vocal majority needs to just refuse to be appeased. This is no time to shut up.BGDrew wrote:I think what's a little encouraging is the fact that Mr. Vivian's services don't come cheap. This is easier said than done, of course, but if anyone feels that the battle is won simply because Jack Vivian is on board needs a refresher in simple economics.

You are absolutely correct!!! BG Hockey fans MUST continue to speak up and keep this issue in the forefront!!! We cannot let this issue keep moving to the backburner!!!! The life of the program depends on it!!Bleeding Orange wrote:The vocal majority needs to just refuse to be appeased. "Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

The rest of the team has been selected and it contains a somewhat surprising name, but a great one (no, not Gretzky)!

I figured you were talking Ellett until I saw Mason's name. I think they've built the best committee they could for the project that lies ahead.Redwingtom wrote:The rest of the team has been selected and it contains a somewhat surprising name, but a great one (no, not Gretzky)!
