fwiw: meeting at Frozen Four

Post by bgbill »

seen at FF Thursday - Wayne Wilson, Brian Hills, Jerry York, David Smith, George McPhee, Scott Paluch, and others together at different times during the games.
This from Washington Times:
http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/ap ... in-mcphee/

Many comments of support from college hockey fans as we walked the concourse wearing our BG jerseys. Flagged down by BG alums who are stunned by the situation.
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

In the Ask the AD on the web, Greg Christopher said he was having meetings with hockey stakeholders at the Frozen Four.

Nice article, the alumni involvement sounds very encouraging. Looking at this year's Frozen Four there is no reason other than administrative commitment that BG couldn't be a national hockey power again.

Where is this? I just looked at the "Ask the AD" site and the last posted information is Sept. 4, 2008,

it's one of the lead stories on the site -- they haven't archived the last couple for some reason, but right now, it's in their 'top 4' stories on the main page of BGSUFalcons

Quote from George McPhee:

"It can't just be about the program surviving. If they're going to be serious about the program, they have to make a commitment that the program is not only here to stay, but it will be a really good one. It can be a really good one because it was a powerhouse for two decades."

He hit it RIGHT on the freakin head!

That is the quote that jumped out at me also!!! I'm very encouraged to hear that former players are having conversations with the people who need to listen!!

BGSU FALCON HOCKEY FOREVER!!!!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

One has to wonder...Ron Mason did retire from he AD job. What if he could come back for say 5 years just to reestablish the program as part of the overall plan....
