Brandon Speaking in the Past Tense - The Blade Today
I will still play the role of the pessimist and say as long as Indiana doesn't hire Bobby Elliot and has an opening and Urban needs an OC, I'll remain skeptical at best . . .
I think Brandon did learn the ways of his error of the UNLV situation and his situation at BG (leaving or staying) will be resolved after the bowl game.

FWIW, I agree with Option here. I am not convinced that Brandon will not be taking a job somewhere else after our Bowl game.OptionQB wrote:I will still play the role of the pessimist and say as long as Indiana doesn't hire Bobby Elliot and has an opening and Urban needs an OC, I'll remain skeptical at best . . .

I am completely not unsure of exactly what I was trying not to say.UK Peregrine Fan wrote:What?Warthog wrote:FWIW, I agree with Option here. To clarify, I still think it is a distinct possibility that Gregg Brandon will not be the head coach of the Bowling Green State University football team when we open the 2005 season.

I don't doubt that Brandon is a hot commodity right now, but what remaining vacancy would be attractive to him? I'm just thinking out loud here ...Warthog wrote:FWIW, I agree with Option here. Jobs filled - WMU, Ohio U., Illinois, Utah, Stanford, Florida, BYU, Washington, Notre Dame, South Carolina, East Carolina, Ole Miss,
Jobs open - UNLV, Indiana, New Mexico St., San Jose.
He's turned UNLV. San Jose is no step up and I don't think NMS is, either. Indiana is the Big 10 ... Big 11 ... whatever ... but it's Indiana.
EDITED TO ADD: Oh yeah, there's the Pitt opening. The school got snubbed by Wannstedt, but the other leading contenders are a Houston Texans assistant, an Oklahoma assistant and a Pitt assistant. Brandon's name hasn't surfaced there.

Jobs filled since this was posted are Ole Miss and Ohio. So Pitt, Indiana, San Jose and New Mexico State are still looking for coaches. New Mexico is a "western" school from whence Brandon came, but they are in the Sun Belt conference and that would be a step back. San Jose is also out west but the WAC seems to be a lateral move. Haven't heard him mentioned at all with regard to Pitt and that seems like a big jump from a MAC school to a top 25 program. Indiana, on the other hand, seems like that right type place to give him a shot. I would not be surprised if he ended up there. By not having a guy in place right now during the prime recruiting time leads me to think they are looking at a guy that is busy coaching a team in a bowl game. Just my opinion.

Something Nice To say about Brandon
WMU head coach Gary Darnell walked into his postgame news conference and publicly thanked Bowling Green head coach Gregg Brandon for not making it, what, a 98-0 loss?
"I want to really congratulate Gregg Brandon and his staff, his football team," Darnell said. "They were an absolute class act. Everyone that was there, everybody who saw it on TV, knew they could have named the score."
There!
I do not call you retards, dildos stupid etc. My degree is not made of toilet paper although it is getting so old it has the same consistency.
As far as the Blade article, I am sorry. When someone says I will not forget, this can be interpreted as looking in the rear view mirror. Technically, this is not past tense for you English majors.
Also, when you graduate you will find that your transcripts are more important than your actual diploma unless you frame it and display it in your office at Jiffy Lube.

Brandon speaking in the past tense
I think the important thread from the Blade article is not whether Brandon is going or staying, but what the uncertainty is doing to our recruiting. The article states it is having a negative affect. I have no doubt it is being used against us and I have no doubt that we have--and will-- lose recruits because of it. Even if he does stay, the damage will be done.

No Problem
Hey back in the 80's I narrowly escaped getting my A$$ kicked several times at nasty frats, Ottawa Tavern, etc. I'll bet they can be a little scarey.
