I heard it was a failed drug test. I also was told that Clawson didn't hide this from the players. He told them straight up that they WOULD be tested...apparently he didn't take that very seriously.

Mine too. =D>
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

So disappointing! I really thought he was smart enough to not make the same mistake twice. I really thought he was a leader of this team.

ESPN.com reported this as a "violation of team rules".

If it is because of what the rules say it is, then right on. Looks like Clawson is willing to do what needs to be done.

This may be why Tennessee's offense was almost dead last in Division 1 last year.

Why, because Clawson decides to enforce drug testing?

So Tennessee's offense sucked last year because Dave Clawson kicked a d-linemen off Bowling Green's team, that makes perfect sense. Maybe Tennessee's offense sucked last year because they didn't have talented players due to poor recuirtment by one overrated head coach in Philip Fulmer.

I get it, you love Gregg Brandon, you seem to have a man crush on him, but you have to get over the fact that he is gone and has moved on. As Rick Pitino might say, "Gregg Brandon isn't walking through that door." Maybe had Brandon had done more kicking players off instead of weak penalties he would still be here

Pretty much, from my viewpoint. On top of that, Clawson was trying to implement a new offensive system, with a new quarterback, at a highly tradition-conscious and stubborn school. Combined with the fact that he walked into a bad situation under Fat Phil... the cards were stacked against him from the start.

Exactly. Our guys seem excited about playing for him and learning his system, instead of resisting change and treating his ideas with an attitude of "well, that's now how we do things here."

I am very excited to see what he does with this program and I have a strong feeling it's going to be a lot of fun to be a BG fan. (More so than it already is.)

If that is in fact true, that is definitely good to hear, especially with the history this team has had in that regard. As what others have said already, Clawson's stock just keeps going higher and higher!

Why are you being such a douche towards Coach Clawson? He didn't fire Gregg Brandon. Greg Christopher fired Gregg Brandon...hell, you could argue that GB fired himself by letting a MAC Championship quality team blow so many games in the 4th qtr... whatever the case, sniping at Coach CLawson won't bring Brandon back...

Let it go....

Very disappointing news to say the least!!! Wow.... this really isn’t what I was hoping to hear. I'll tell you what though, the two past off-seasons have been just killers for our defensive linemen. Between what happened with Barrow and Hardwick last year and now Reem this year, the off-the-field decision making has just wiped out our DL as both guys last year had several years of eligibility remaining. Reem was our only returning starter on the DL and now he’s gone too. But what can you do…
GO BG!!!
