The Anderson Animals

Post by Metz »

I would like to officially announce today that starting January 2, 2005, a new group will be standing along the sidelines of Anderson Arena. The reason myself and some others on this site and elsewhere wanted to start this new group is because the sideline squad just isn't the sideline squad anymore. We need dedicated basketball fans back in The House that Roars! We will be there an hour or more before the game starts, we will be loud, and we will support this basketball program like we always have. This just gives us a common look that hopefully will catch on so that all of our students turn into the fans that this university needs :D

You should give each other animal names like ostrich, gator and ferret. You could even put them on the back of your shirts.

I agree I don't think the people in the sideline squad were actually basketball fans. It was more of a group of frat guys that wanted to be cool. I could be wrong. But I like the idea of having real-dedicated basketball fans making their own group.

We actually did leave room at the top on the back part of the design so we could put names. So it does have possibilities :D

If anyone else wants a shirt, you don't have to be students, just let me know. If you are interested, email me and I will hook you up with the full designs. We will be sponsored by AZZ.com and it will say that on the back. $5 will be saved on every shirt thanks to Grant!!!

That's an hour and 15 minutes earlier than the Sideline Squad. Them's fightin' words.

I'm up for a fight as long as it's outside. I would NOT want to get kicked out of AA!!!!

This is a great idea. So many possibilities. Just dont be chachie like sideline squad was. Why not combine it with the Sic sic like masks and actually dress up like different animals. that would be hilarious. Jeans the t-shirt and a lions mane and paws. hilarious.

The name is far more catchy than sideline squad, combining it with animal from the muppet babies is fun for all ages as well and incredibly memorable. I think original too.

Thanks for the ideas but I'll pass. My orange BG windpants will be better than the jeans :D Also, the biggest prob I ever had with the sideline squad was the black shirts. I honestly believe they caused the whole brown to black thing :)

I hope no one thinks I hate the sideline squad because I don't. The original one showed me what true student fans are and I will never forget that. Since those original people have moved on, it has become something else that isn't what a BG basketball fan should be like and that is why we are stepping up!

The more I ponder over this, the better it gets. When I actually give the people their shirts, I could just give them all animal names myself and make it more fun. Since we plan on using real white paint to put the names on, this could be a good way to do it! For mine, I'm thinking either Original Animal or going matrix style with The Architect. I could even put The Ark on the back of mine since Noah's Ark held all the animals or maybe that is going to far. But once again, flip has me thinking about my posts more than I should!!!! :P

This is the best idea since a group of 5 of us started to design the sideline squad some 6 years ago. I want a shirt! One question though, will you be giving us our names the proper way as done in "Animal House?"
