This is great news! But with Jakubowski, Kraus and now Crawford all at the point, this sort of has me wondering if we're going to see Brown back next season? I guess time will tell.

Looks like he'll be on campus tomorrow...here's another article I came across:

La Salle senior point guard Jordon Crawford, who had previously signed with Ashland University, has been given a release from the Division II school after a coaching change and has orally committed to play at Bowling Green.

La Salle basketball coach Dan Fleming said the 5-foot-6 Crawford will take an unofficial visit to Bowling Green on Tuesday and will sign his letter of intent for a full scholarship on April 23.

So my question is?

Post by HoopsFan »

Who's the rumor to be leaving the team?

Is it a player from this year or someone who didn't play this season?

There is no rumor, really, just idle speculation. I recently posted the opinion that Brown isn't a D1 athlete, something that others disagreed with. Crawford represents our 13th scholarship, afaik. If we sign another guy this spring, then we know someone must have left.

I was under the impression that Kraus was more of a shooting guard than a true PG.

If this kid can create off the dribble and create shots for his teammates I don't care if he's 4'6. This team hasn't had a guard that could create off the dribble since Lewis left, and haven't had a PG to do it since Pardon.

That's a pretty annoying statement. I don't think Jo Jak was a DI player after his freshman seasonl, he could only go to his left on layups, Lindsay Golds certainly didn't look DI material either, but they grew up. OP's freshman year was pretty much a bust on his 285 pound frame. Dee's from nearby and we gave him a scholarship to play. Is he unhappy about his PT? He'll get his turn, maybe this year if he improves.

Until then, don't drive us nuts with rumours.

We are getting a good player in my opinion. He attends Lasalle a great high school that has good reputation of producing quality athletes and students. His coach Dan Fleming is good guy and prepares his players to play. Lasalle does not always have the best players but they win because they play team ball and the players do not play out of their abilities. Crawford and D-Mac will be good additions.

My only point was my opinion that Brown does not have D1 tools (unlike Jak, who I think does have D1 tools). There was no notion of a rumor until your post. So, please hoopsfan, don't YOU drive us nuts with rumors. :)

I think Dee Brown can develop into a D1 player. I can't wait to see it happen.

Let this play out

I like the move on this potential signee. Having a guard that can push the tempo and beat his man off the dribble makes it 10X harder on the opposing defense. When someone goes to help, we will have someone open either to bury a 3 OR to rip the rim off the glass.

On paper, it appears to me we haven't had someone this quick since Michael Huger or David Greer days.... [I never saw Pardon or the rest of the '90s, early '00s era point guards play].

This is a good move. If there was a quality big available they would have pursued it. You can't pass on a playmaker like this though. Maybe there is more/better bigs in the works for '10 - '11 incoming class. Be patient and enjoy the ride.

I'm going to withhold judgement on the kid because I have never seen him play. But getting him from Ashland doesn't exactly make me jump for joy.

I could care less that he went to LaSalle being from Southwest Ohio I know all about the GCL, yada yada.

Hope he pans out, but I'm not expecting the next Earl Boykins.

He's our most underrated player I think now that Moten is gone. When he gets some more time on the court, he'll be fine.

Luke Krauss is 6-1 but he is a shooting guard. Having watched his game he is a pure scorer not a PG. So this is not an issue.

I think it is irresponsible and mean spirited to post on a message board that someone who very well might read the message board is not worthy of a scholarship or a D1 athlete. I thought it when it was said about Marc Larson and I think it again now that it is being said about Dee Brown.
