Factman & Metz- glad to see my counter argument has already been made. Ron is selfish and was more than likely slacking on D. He was a virus, and we have been cleansed. Falcons are playing that actually want to, and look how great they are thus far!

GO FALCONS!

Ron was that guy who took half of the shots against IPFW, only makes sense that he had half of the points then.

BTW, did anyone notice how pale Jovon Burkes looked on BG's hoops article today? I hope he not sick? http://bgsufalcons.collegesports.com/sp ... 04aaa.html

I know I'm in the minority on here about Lewis, so I'll say this and leave it alone. Lewis had one helluva night for BG against IPFW, all the way around. He had 33 points (first on the team), 5 rebounds (second on the team), 4 assists (first on the team) and 1 block (first on the team). And for the record, he also had 4 fouls in this game, so he must have been trying to play some D.

I'm not trying to defend Ron Lewis on here now that he left BG and is no longer a Falcons. But, when he was a Falcon, he was arguable one, if not the, best player we had. The terms MAC MVP, NBA prospect, one of BG's best - these were all thing we said about Lewis. People talked about Lewis as the next Daniels, Stacey, McLeod type of a player for BG. I just find it funny that so many people who used to praise him for his game, now talk so poorly about his game. Was he the best defender we had? No. Was he a point guard? No. Was he a good scorer? Yes. Did he knock down his shots? Yes. Did he get to the line? Yes. Was he one of our only player who could create his own shot? Yes. Was he an exciting player to watch? Yes. Was he an important player in our wins? Yes. Was he one of our opponents' key players to stop? Yes.

It sucks that it didn't work out with him here. I wish he could have stayed and blended in with the good core we've got here now, and like many of you, I was upset when he left. We probably are better off without him and he might be better off at Ohio State. But I do "appreciate" what he gave to BG when he was a part of the team and I haven't forgotten as quickly as some as to what he did for BG before he left. Personally, I hope he regrets leaving BG, but I can appreciate what he did for BG while he was here during his first two years as a Falcon.

So if Steven Wright or John Reimold records 33 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and a block against IPFW on Tuesday night and we lose, I won't blame either one of them for the loss if they played that hard.
GO BG!!!

I agree with you BGSU33. It was disappointing that he left and I hope things work out well for OSU, but BG basketball has more than survived without him. In high school, he was a kid who sacrificed personal statistics and ended up with a state championship. It's just a lot easier to point fingers at somebody once they're gone.

That loss at IUPUFW last year was a team effort and a lowpoint in the recent history of BG basketball.

Lewis took praise while he was here, and I too had high hopes for him, but I think Lewis was the most overrated player that we've had. He did some things very well: he got to the hole, scored, drew fouls, and made his free throws. However, his defense just stunk. His ball handling was suspect. He was not a particularly good passer. As a 6-4 2G, he was never a 3p shooter. His basketball IQ left something to be desired, and he often seemed to play in a fog. He played completely without the passion that you see in guys like Reimold and Fitch. So, he did some things very well, and he did other things rather poorly. He did things that showed up in the box score. I don't miss him at all. In fact, I was much more bothered by the departure of Chris Hobson. I think Hobson will end up as the better all-around player when the two are through.

IPFW got smoked by Butler today, 73-39. Seems like if the defense can keep forcing bad shots, revenge for last year should be at hand.

Since this thread is all about predictions... how about 68-52 BG?
