Rumor..probably OT...maybe old....SJ to BG?

Post by HoopsFan »

It was hinted today that a certain ex-UT coach's son may be coming to BG to play both FB and BB.

I know, it's a stretch, but Coach J WAS at the BG games at the end of the season.

Time will tell, I guess.

Too bad you don't still have his best sport. Not sure which his favorite is but I'm guessing he'll get some offers from big time schools for Track.

Only sissies run track 8-)

I heard the Joplin kid is a serious wide receiver and while we would love to have him attend BGSU, that he is probably going to be able to entertain BC$ offers.

I saw Joplin at a High School practice when I was interning at WTOL and the coach was riding him (with a smile on his face), calling him "Droplin." I thought that was pretty funny.

Agreed. The real men were all high jumpers, not runners.

Will he sit out a year? I'm not sure he will qualify. At least that's the rumor on why he wasn't recruited.

Interesting that we've still got football scholarships available... Joplin, then the kid from Warren Labrae.... I'm a bit surprised...though bouncing a former DT recently, would've opened up at least ONE scholarship...Wonder if the original group of "incoming" freshmen is still intact. :o

Are we so sure that Joplin isn't a preferred walk-on?

Why? I had heard he was getting looks from BCS programs in football (and track).

2 sports

Post by HoopsFan »

Maybe because the 2 sports he wants to play are FB and Basketball? Maybe it's close to home? Maybe he likes BGSU :-)

Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

OK, but I'm not asking why BG-I'm asking why he didn't get a scholarship offer from BG or somewhere. Not that his parents can't afford to pay his way but still...
