Hoeppner a Hoosier

I don't understand this move. Sure it's the big 11 but I'd choose Miami over Indiana in a heartbeat. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1948327

Now that I DID NOT see coming...

i don't think any of us did either. kind of the coach brandon thing on azz, we tossed it around on mht, but i don't think any of us really thought he was 1) a serious candidate or 2) would take the job. i guess the lure of coaching in the little 11 was too much to pass up. at 57 years of age, this was probably his shot.

ugh... :(

If he can make it work at IU, then he makes the move look good for himself, and blunts Miami's sense of loss.

If he doesn't, people will talk about how he was ducking out before things collapsed at Miami, either because of attendance issues, a drop-off in talent, or whatever.

I think Miami will find a coach, but in a year like this, to lose a coach so late in the process.......

Players and some alums want our OC to stay and coach the team, it has worked well for BG thats for sure. Montgomery was being groomed to become a head coach anyways, why not stay put with good players and continue to reload the program.

At least now it won't matter to see Hoeppner hanging out with a MAC team's bowl game opponent.

I think Miami will be fine, or even better. I really think Hoep made a big mistake.

Miami has only 13 schollies to give this year, right? They don't need to rush right out and pick a guy because they're looking at a pretty small class to begin with. It'd be different if they had a ton of slots to fill and a lot of departing talent.

They can definitely afford to take their time and find the right coach as opposed to the guy who seems comfortable. (for all I know, Montgomery is that guy and Miami's AD can take his time and make sure the hire is made for the right reasons
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

As far as we know, he has said he will be on the sidelines in Shreveport.
