From today's indictment of the UT point-shavers...

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/ ... ctment.pdf

Page 7 paragraph 15:

It was further a part of the conspiracy that on or about Sunday, January 15, 2006, GHAZI MANNI and MITCHELL EDWARD KARAM, Defendants herein, would and did wager approximately $17,000 on the outcome of the men's basketball game between the University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University.

FYI, that game was tied up at half-time... BG went on to win by 7 (don't know what the spread was)

Kashif Payne (one of the indicted) went 4-8 from the field...Justin Ingram went 4-15.

Martin Samarco went 3-21... THAT should be a crime!

Also keep in mind that sometimes there are all kinds of bets on games available. Score at half-time and total points to name a couple.

But most reports say the gamblers were getting inside team information, probably like injuries and the like, so you can't just use the catch-all phrase "point shaving" that gets thrown around.

Sammie has already taken a plea agreement and is scheduled to be sentenced in June. Not sure its all the same charges but his stuff was resolved months ago.
