Coach Clawson mentioned that at an alumni dealie in Indy last week, though I didn't realize it was so close to an actuality.

"The 2010 game also will mark the sixth time the Falcons have met a Big Ten opponent in a five-year span. BGSU played Wisconsin in both 2005 and 2006, Michigan State in 2007 and Minnesota in both '07 and '08."
Hmmm...seems like we missed one from the '06 season. Oops!

The difference is, last year UM was ripe for the picking with a new scheme and very young players everywhere. Next year we UM is going to be running a fully implemented spread with a probably a very talented running quaterback and more speed than UM has ever had. It'll be weird cuz, by the time we play Michigan we'll be running an offense than resembles a bit more what they used to run and they'll be running a similar offense to what we've run for 8 year's. Odd indeed, we'll be attempting to pound the ball up the gut with rb's and using TE's and they'll be passing the ball around like crazy.BG82 wrote:You would think that UM would have learned NOT to schedule an I-75 team in a year that they play in Columbus...

Wow FB...you're amazing...most of us don't know what the offense is going to look like in 2009, but you have a line on what we'll be running in 2010!
While I agree with you that by 2010 UM might be really really good...I don't think there's as many similarities between RichRod's version of the spread and what we ran under GB. His version of the was geared towards the run far more than ours was...look at the QB's, after JH left we were lining up with passers that could run a little rather than the Pat White runner who can throw a little prototype.

Keep in mind Flip that RichRod has run the spread offense with other QBs than Pat White. With Shaun King at Tulane, I'd say the offense looked similar to the Omar Jacobs days here at BG - tons of passing yards with an efficient passer. So depending on how the QB situation at Michigan works out, if Forcier and/or Robinson work out, Michigan may turn out to be a passing offense. RichRod has said he develops a version of the spread that works best for the players he on the field ... and I definitely couldn't see Pat White passing the way Jacobs ever did.
