Where's the band field?
Actually, what my headlights hit last night were a marker post near where the tree used to be. They have stuff roped off so I couldn't drive out there. There is a tree by the rocks now, I'm hoping they moved it over there. I have no idea though!

I wouldn't actually be too upset if they moved the tree, as long as they TOLD someone they were going to do it and let us do it ourselves so we could pick the new spot. It is a memorial after all and that's clearly marked. It would be weird to have the band fields by the fieldhouse and her tree completely cut off from that by parking lot. But then again, we can't just be moving it every time they move the field. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

hey all, just walked out there tonight with my girlfriend who is also in the FMB. the tree has been moved over by the field house basically in the middle of where the rocks are. The rocks are in a pretty decent looking semi-circle and the tree is basically the center of that circle.
The tree looks mostly ok - the plaque is still there at the bottom of it. The only thing is that the tree is leaning ever so slightly to one side and there was definitely a branch missing from it. If you look at it you can see where a branch used to be - the inner flesh is still fresh and there is a vertical crack about 4 inches below the missing branch.
Years of tradition have been demolished from moving the FMB over to the other side of the fields.... The rocks, the trailer, and the tree are all so far away from everything now. All of the traditional section spots are gone - they'll have to grapple for new spots around the new fields... Field 3 is a mess by the way... It really needs a good flattening. Not sure what the fall will bring other than definite change...

No offense to her, but they don't have to as she doesn't own the field. I'm sure she is aware of the situation though.billchase2 wrote:Did anyone approach Dr. Hayward about all of this before they started moving things?

I'm going with Metz on this one...They could've easily just gone through and do everything without consulting her, but I'm sure that since the FMB has had a pretty active voice in the whole issue, Dr. Hayward has probably been told of everything that's going on with the band fields.Metz wrote:No offense to her, but they don't have to as she doesn't own the field. As a band member you should know the difference, but as a BG band member maybe not.

There was a reason she and I were relegated to whistle.h2oville rocket wrote: As a band member you should know the difference, but as a BG band member maybe not.
