this is absolutely a fantastic way to showcase the bg program in a wonderful new arena and possibly a chance to place this game on national tv......great way to bring attn to the program.

i do think this is a good way to bring attention to the program and i think there will be a nice crowd from both sides there, however i don't think it's good that UM gets two games at home while we only get one. i think thats gonna cause us to miss out on some revenue opportunities there.

michigan gets two games at yost and we get a game at bg and one at the new sports arena, which in toledo, should be a home game for us, however depending on our student support is whether or not we travel many fans, i will be in attendance for sure, but the problem is with more seats available i could very well see michigan out-attending us in our own "home" game......either way it is nice to have a game being played at this new facility. I believe it can only bring positive light upon the program.

hum. Great Idea, yet I hope that some busing takes place to get our students to this game.
I would rather see the guys PLAY the Fish and fore go the rule that prevents that game, a tradition started with the Gold Digers...yet I know those days are gone, to revive that would be fun.

I know we Play the USA U18, not sure if its in AA or BG, in BG would be nice.

I don't folllow hockey but I have to wonder if UT ever played UM at the Glass Bowl if it would really be a home game. LOTS of UM fans in this town.

I assume that since it counts as a home game for us that there is no revenue sharing with UM. Assuming they sell 7500 tickets at $10 a piece, that's $75,000 (before the arena takes it cut). I don't care if everybody in the place but me is a UM fan, that is a healthy chunk of revenue for the hockey program.

If it sells well I can see BG hosting a holiday tournament there on a regular basis in the future. Now you're talking 15,000-18,000 tickets at $25 or more. I think you can see where I'm going with this.

Right on.

While I love seeing the IA get packed for UM games, if we can take advantage of a larger arena and still be close enough for BG fans to help fill it up, go ahead. Making money is as important as anything right now.

Buses would be great, use the BGSU buses to take students from the Ice arena parking lot to Lucas Co. Arena, and Any student with a car going up should carpool his/her friends that's 4-6 people per car!

Yes where is it, other schools have had theirs out for a while, BG already got season tix info out early but it's fairly ineffective without a schedule!! WE NEED IT SOON!!
MACMAN wrote:the USA U18? oooh sweet!! I'm getting more and more excited for this season, we have a young but talented team and the bits and pieces of the schedule I've seen on other schools' looks challenging but winning should boost out ratings!!.

I have to go to effing Toledo to watch a hockey game? Unholy.

Still, maybe, if the game doesn't stink, the PR up north wouldn't be too bad. I suppose home games against OSU, ND, and MSU are next. A local holiday tourney wouldn't be too bad.

As far as I'm concerned, there's no reason to play a regular season home game anywhere but in the Ice Arena.

In the end, you are almost certainly right. Somebody will say "oh, but TV," to which I'd say it doesn't matter in Hockey, and has done little but to disrupt schedules with football.

I also don't know how many people who are fans of the pro team in Toledo will ever come down south to see BG play. Plus the game turns into a glorified home game for Michigan types, and UT wannabes.
