Are we really going to beat this dead horse again. Any sport CAN have a golf outing. The department asks they schedule it a reasonable distance from the Falcon Bash so it does not hurt that event. There are many sports that have benefited from the Falcon Bash that would not be able to put on a successful golf outing by themselves.

Seriously, the department is not out to kill hockey despite unfounded rumors to the contrary. 18 sports, 1 TEAM! It's a great concept when it's bought into.

You're incorrect. The decision was made to only have one outing and sports such as hockey and women's basketball had to cancel theirs. It wouldn't matter if they tried to schedule it in January, the University has blocked any sports (except football, I guess) from having their own golf fundraiser.

The first year the Falcon Bash was held you are correct, all other sports were asked to back only one outing. But now times have changed. The fact that football is having an outing disproves the University is blocking ALL sports from having an outing. Anyway, i'm going to go read "Chicken Little" to my son.

The Falcon Bash has been a BUST! That is why they are leaving the individual sports go back to their own golf outings. It has cost the athletic department thousands of $$$$ and now it will take a few years to build the individual outings up again. The other problem is that they have required the indiviaual sports to subsidize the department with $100 going to the Falcon Club, which there is nothing wrong with, but it simply makes the golf outings cost proihibitive for many of the usual participants. It has been a series of BAD management decisions.

No argument on that. The simple fact that it has always been held on a Friday has kept me from participating. I just can't get the time off, especially if I want to try and attend the games that are during the week. It is a great idea and I think with some changes it can be profitable. But if those changes are not going to be made then drop the event.

Falcons Bash anyway? The HOGO was doing tremendously well before the Falcon Bash. It's time to get it going again. This idea of 18 sports one team is a joke as well. The one team is pretty much football. When asked how much football costs annually the AD didn't know. Are you kidding me? The biggest program in his department and he doesn't know the annual cost? Bull. He just doesn't want the true numbers of those costs and how much football lost getting out.

The women's basketball golf outing was not cancelled, it was held in September the last 2 years. The fans of women's basketball still got together and had a good time golfing. A social was held in the evening for anyone who didn't golf. It wasn't as big as when they had it in July, but it still did happen. I don't know about this year because of the trip to Costa Rica.
