Corey Partridge trying out for MLB scouts?

Post by Peregrinner »

According to Howard Chen, "Corey Partridge was not on a pear tree this afternoon. He was trying out for Major League BASEBALL scouts at Owens CC!!!"

Sounds pretty interesting. Anyone know more?

Wouldn't surprise me a bit. He's an incredible kid, capable of just about anything.

Talk to Scott, his dad. Said many times CP was a heck of a baseball player as well as volleyball. The dude is a pure athlete.

I think that is way cool he was trying out...why not?

That'd be great for him if he could catch on somewhere, even a Frontier League team or something to get his foot in the door. Good Luck CP!

Perhaps he can make his way onto the Akron Aeros roster someday.

Just remember very few players get picked up at these try outs. The other thing working against him is that he hasn't played in four years. (Unless he played at BG, I don't know) I wish him the best, but I hope he isn't putting his future on these try outs.

I can confirm that yes indeed CP participated in this event as well as a tryout in Kentucky a week or so ago.

CP and my friend and former cheerleader Kyle MacDonald both have been actively working towards these tryouts.

I know CP and Kyle both received a callback from the first tryout in KY and only 12 of the particpants were called back.

Anymore information and I will let you know.

Yeah, its a fun thing. He is working at some baseball facility up there as grounds crew for tournaments. So they began working out for these tryouts. Its one of those why nots. Him and Kyle were called back after the tryouts at NKU. There were 120 guys at the one in perrysburg. They kept cutting thru out the day and got down to a final 12 players. Corey was one of the 12 left. They said that they would be in touch and let them go.

Corey saw one of the scouts at one of the tournaments he was working and the guy said they were looking at him for the great lakes league. Not sure if the guy was serious or just blowing smoke. But it would be fun to see him get a chance.

Here is a youtube video from a local news broadcast.

He was a great baseball player in HS and had a few opportunities to play in college. But once he verbalized to play football at BG, they quit looking at him. He was going to play both at BG but the coaches wouldn't allow him to do it. It would be fun, Keep your fingers crossed.

I will see you guys at a couple of games this season. It will be awesome to catch up.

It would be cool to be at and Indians game (if I cared about the MLB) and here, "next up to bat, Corey Partridge", and hear Ay Ziggy Zoomba!
