According to twitter and Howard Chen, Pooch is gone!

https://twitter.com/ho_chen

"Scott Paluch steps down as BGSU hockey head coach. Dennis Williams takes over on the interim. Paluch takes new job with USA Hockey."

"To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty. To the project manager, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be."

It's on bgsufalcons.com already. Williams takes over as interim head coach for 2009-2010.

Here's hoping this is the start of good things.

To be fair, Pooch was an excellent assistant coach at BC. I'm sure he'll do well.

You can watch the whole press conference on the sentinel site:

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I really felt bad for Pooch. You could tell this just about killed him. He does love BG and I hope he can still work closely with the team. I'm still not entirely sure this was a voluntary position but I think the team's in good hands with Coach Williams.
