The NCAA may need to setup a branch office in Columbus.

tressel always tough
he has always been quick to suspend his players or kick them out of practice when they break the rules. it's only a big deal now because of what clarrett says which is not credible. he has lied once to the NCAA already the first time anything was investigated.
he suspended steve bellisari for the 2000 michigan game for rules
several other players when things came to his attention. only difference is now its the big household names doing stupid things. it must not be that big of a deal if he is only going to be punished for the bowl game. if it was too serious, they wouldn't even be thinking of appealing for reinstatement next season. they would do what they did to clarrett. it has nothing to do with the school or coaches. it is the dumb ass boosters from outside of the institution. get over it already. haters.

How was he able to suspend an Ohio State player while he was the coach at Youngstown State?tekekini wrote:he suspended steve bellisari for the 2000 michigan game for rules
I'm not as cool as Tony Gaver, nor will I ever be.
He gave him a one game suspension, which I thought was way below what was warranted. In that particular instance I would've told him he just played his last down as an OSU football player. For whatever reason Tressel thought that a one game suspension was sufficient.bgfanwisc wrote:He didn't seem to be to harsh on Reynolds when he blatantly choked a Wisconsin player.
Beyond that, however, he has been VERY quick to suspend players who have committed rules infractions. He's also not hesitated to suspend starters and key players when they screwed up. He has continually given a one game suspension for a first offense and then followed it up with harsher punishments when players don't seem to learn. With the exception of the Reynolds situation I think Tressel has done a good job giving out punishments that fit the crimes of his players.
The biggest problem I see is that even though he keeps suspending guys, even suspending key players, the kids are not learning. I don't know if there's something behind the scenes that makes these kids believe they're going to get away with it or if they're just problem children from the get go. Either way I think he's done a good job disciplining his team, but he's done a poor job preventing these sorts of things from happening in the first place.

Keep telling yourself that it's not institutionalized, just like SMU's problems were just boosters run amok, or Barry Switzer's teams didn't have guns in the dorm.tekekini wrote: it has nothing to do with the school or coaches. it is the dumb ass boosters from outside of the institution. get over it already. haters.
Head-in-the-sand tOSU fans are the best kind. That way when it blows up in their faces, it's even more satisfying.
It's schadenfreude -- the feeling, not the legendary AZZ poster.
