Been here all summer and the field is just about ready to have lines painted on it. BTW, it looks like they installed a sprinkler system on the field as well. Let's hope it's not scheduled to water at 4PM :D

Just shot this video this afternoon while I was in town. The parking lot is HUGE and goes almost to Poe Road. It wraps around and connects by the field house too. While it's kind of sad to see the old marching band practice fields gone, it should really help out with parking. It will be interesting to see how things go having people walk right past the practice field to their cars during rehearsals. I think it'll give the marching band a little more attention and publicity.

This makes me even more grateful for the last shot of the '01 highlights video. Katie and Mikey took video of just the empty field- tree, trailer and all. Over it are the words "Wherever you go, you can always come home." I tear up every time.
Time will treat you kindly

Ever dearer to our hearts,

Seeing the old grinder paved over makes me a bit sad, but such is the way with development. It's worth it to see the Stroh Ctr.

The MMAC resides where the old grinder used to be. The folks in the dorms were SO happy on Saturday mornings of home games.

No confirmed numbers yet but a few rumors going around are saying there are anywhere between forty and sixty trumpets, and thirty or so trombones registered so far...

Hopefully there are only a dozen or so clarinets or piccs for "field filler."

*ducking*

I heard today there are 25 ALTO saxophones registered. That's just ALTOS, no tenors included there. The band is projected to have 295 members this year. Taking into account the forty or so we lose every year before fundeis week, that puts the band at 255 members round abouts, which is around 20 members larger than my research shows the band ever being. Insert drooling emoticon here...

Over the last three years the band has purchased 18 new euphoniums. I have a feeling most of them will be utilized.

Damn. That's quite a bit bigger than the 210 we had. Does this include auxiliary?
