I think the system flat out sucks but it's all about the jack. IF teams like Boise State, Utah, TCU and others can keep the pressure on...and other non BCS schools start moving to that level, something may change. But I won't hold my breath.

So...is there a comparison between playing a MWC or WAC sked and the Big Ten sked these days? Not much...Hell, the Big Ten hasn't been this weak in a long time.

The Big Ten isn't even in the top four of college football conf. The SEC, Big 12, ACC and PAC 10 are all better at this time. I'll believe Michigan is back when I see it. Outside Penn State and OSU, there ain't a whole lot to write home about these days with the BiG 10. And yet you talk about how there are only 2 or 3 good teams in the WAC and MWC...yet the same thing applies to the BiG Ten.

But you keep living in your biased world, tiki. Doesn't change the fact the BCS sucks.

I'll give you the Big XII, SEC, and maybe the Pac-10 as well, but the ACC?! Cmon Freak, the ACC doesn't have anybody Virginia Tech was the best team in the conference last year and they lost 4 times. Boise State and/or TCU would've taken them behind the woodshed. Don't talk to me about parity either, every time the ACC plays teams from the Big XII or SEC they get creamed. I'm not sure about their records against the other conferences, but just look at the teams. Florida State sucks. Miami sucks. Maryland is mediocre. Georgia Tech is overrated because they had that one great win against Georgia. Freaking Wake Forest is one of the conferences elite teams! And don't even get me started on Duke.

Duke is ACC's version of Indiana.
I don't think the top of the ACC (VT, BC) matches up all that well to the top of the Big 10 (Ohio State, Penn State). I do think the ACC has more depth, though. I think GT, Miami, FSU, NCSU, UNC, Clemson, Maryland, and WF as a group are right now a step above MSU, Iowa, NW, Minn, Wisc, and Illinois. I think the conferences are pretty even.

However ... I think Utah, TCU, and Boise State would have all swept all of those middle of the road teams I mentioned and at least split OSU, PSU, VT, and BC. Issue is we won't be able to tell how good Utah, TCU, and Boise actually were week to week until they start playing those sorts of teams week to week. Boise played one huge one in Oregon and took them down. TCU played one great game vs Oklahoma. Outside of Texas, I'd say TCU had the best game all season long against the Sooners. They also beat a decent Stanford team. Utah played Oregon State not long after the USC upset and won. They also beat Michigan, but so did 8 other teams. Each of those was nice, but there was only one or two big teams for each. I'd like to see more of those games each year, not just one for each team, and that would give a measuring stick of how good these teams really are.

2004 Utah:
Texas A&M (finished 7-5) won 41-21
Arizona (finished 3-8) won 23-6
North Carolina (finished 6-6) won 46-16
Pittsburgh (finished 8-4, Big East champs) won 35-7

I still hold 2004 Utah as the best non BCS team of the BCS era. They went 4-0 vs BCS teams, including a conference, albeit weak conference, champ. If teams like Utah happen more, I really see less of an argument that they can't play week in week out vs the best teams.

The Big Ten is overrated. Last year, the ACC sent 10 teams to bowls. BTW, every time OSU plays a team against other conf they get wasted.

Tell me...what makes the Big Ten so great these days? Indiana blows...Michigan blows worse. Iowa never does anything great. Purdue sucks. Illinois is up and down. MSU, MN and Wisky are decent teams. Other than OSU and Penn State, what makes the Big Ten so great?

Dantonio is building his team and if they don't make some serious noise this year then wait until next year. They are going to be gooood.

Iowa is going to be pretty damn good. Iowa may suck in your eyes but they did beat their SEC opponent S.C. Gamecocks. So the Big Ten's #4 team is obviously better than the SEC's # 5 and it was not close (31-10 or something like that).

Who has the Big Ten beaten out of conference over the last few years (the down years)? A shitty Michigan team who lost to App State crushed defending national champion Florida gaytors.. Again, not close.

Wisconsin Smashed SEC Auburn in the capital one bowl a few years ago.

Then they beat Arkansas the following year. Yet anothet Big Ten victory over the SEC during the big ten's 'down' years.

Hmm..I am starting to wonder what is so great about the SEC outside of Florida and LSU (since you exclude OSU and PSU from the big ten).

Seems that outside of the two national title games....the Big Ten pretty much owns the SEC.

So the SEC beat the B10 in the championship game two years in a row. So maybe the SEC is just top heavy and has no depth? The record speaks for itself and looking at record a lone one could conclude the B10 is deeper andSEC is top heavy (not much after Florida and LSU).

ACC is junk. A 4 loss team should not be alowed into the BCS. I would have rather seen Boise in their place. The Big East is junk. That conference could go away. Take the best of the ACC and the best of the Big East and create a new conference. The bad teams of those two can form a new non BCS conference and the merger of the best of the MWC and WAC will be the 6th BCS conference.

The PAC 10 isn't any deeper than the Big Ten. There is USC and then who? Oregon always chokes. Cal isn't what they were just a few years ago. Who does the P10 have? They are arguably weaker than the Big Ten.

I know all of this goes against your views but there it is..the rest of the nation speaks and the B10 had double the votes than the P10.



We can argue all day about what conference is better than the other but no one can ever really know until every B10 team played every SEC team one time and then compare the records of each team.

But that will never happen so we can only go on bowl records against each other and those records say dead even.

I would agree with that. The teams you listed would make for a very tough conf.
