Bacon Explosion

Post by Jacobs4Heisman »

I'm pretty sure details about this glorious creation have been posted in the past, but I'm having some guys over Sunday and we're making our first bacon explosion.

I expect the true bacon explosion will be on Monday...

Anybody ever actually made one of these?

I have not, but I plan to make one or two for the Boise State Tailgate this year.

Let us know how it goes!

I gotta say that I really feel that Kevin Bacon's success has a direct correlation to his last name.

We made one a couple weeks ago. Used slices of it to top our jalapeno burgers. My only problem with it is the weave of bacon is extremely chewy since it is smoked instead of fryed. Tastes great though.
Yeah right girl!

:boggle: Oh. My. God. I want one now. Any restaurant that carried that would either be the best restaurant ever or the first to be shut down for trying to kill their guests.

I really wanna try one too. A couple of my friends have and said it was awesomeness. Like I said, I plan on doing this for the Boise St. Game Tailgate.

As to being the first restaurant to try to kill their guests? Nah. Off the top of my head these places are already doing that:

http://www.heartattackgrill.com/ My favorite part about this place is the fact that if you're > 350 lbs you can eat for free...it's good to set goals in life ;)

http://www.chipshopnyc.com/ Saw this place on a travel channel special once. They batter dip & deep fry pizza! In fact, I think it said on the show I watched that you can even bring your own stuff in and they'll batter dip & fry it for you

http://www.bigtexan.com/index.html And this is probably the original restaurant trying to kill their patrons. Eat the 72 oz steak, shrimp cocktail, salad, baked potato, and dinner roll you'll get your entire meal for free. Before I die I want to attempt this. I want to know where my steak limit is...I've down 32 oz steaks without much problem, just curious how much further I could go :)

Bought about 5 pounds of pork last night. I had to tell the guy at the deli I needed 3 pounds of bacon twice. He did a bit of a double-take the first time. I'm pretty pumped.

Best of luck, J4H. This is one time when I won't look down upon you for posting pictures. :-)

And while I'm too lazy to attempt this myself, this thread has inspired me to bust out some Scotch eggs this weekend. There isn't any bacon involved but man are they good...

There's a bbq place out here, Smokin' Cowboys, that boasts "If it's legal, we'll smoke it." I now think that I need to inquire about possibly doing this.
