My contact in Baltimore tells me that Josh is scheduled to play the 4th quarter. He may see action earlier due to an injured Stewart.Falconfreak90 wrote:We get another look at J5 here in NE Ohio. Game starts at 8.

I think he got a grand total of 5 or 6 plays. 2 passes, 2 handoffs, and 2 sacks. Right now it just seems like if his first read isn't open, he is content to tuck it and try to get back to the line of scrimmage. I'm sure this year will help him learn the pro game and he'll look better next pre-season. With only two pre-season games left, I would expect the starters and back-ups to get even more time, so we may have seen J5 on the field for the last time this year.redskins4ever wrote:0-2 passing and looks as if their were just a bunch of handoffs.
On a side note -- the QB Philly drafted ahead of Josh from U. of Delaware looked pretty good. No idea what his final numbers were, but he led two solid drives.

I caught the end of the game.
I didn't think Josh looked very sharp. I also thought he might have bailed out early once or twice in order to try to make it back to the line -- although, who knows, maybe nothing was available down field.
In the only pass I remember, he released it a bit late in his motion, so it kind of knuckled a bit over to Chester Taylor, who wasn't able to hang onto it.
It does seem like he'll make the team, at least for now.
The Ravens have this guy Wright, this guy Boller, Kordell Stewart and Harris. That appears to be the order. Wright is injured. Does anyone know for how long?
I thought they were saying on television that Wright might be back in October. If so, maybe that's when Harris gets bumped to a practice squad.
I still wonder if Harris might develop more quickly the CFL or World League. I think he can be something special, but he's going to need more work than some of these other quarterbacks (like Roethlisberger) who played in more traditional college offenses.
I just hope it works out for the best for him.

I was under the impression it was more or less a given Harris would make the Ravens roster. Isn't it?
I know you have to root for the best for our former players, but as a fan of the CFL (Hamilton Tiger-Cats in particular) I would absolutely love to see Harris play on that wide field and pass happy game. Problem is he can make more $$$ carrying a clipboard in Baltimore.

NFL teams show a great loyalty to the players that they drafted. Very rarely will they cut a draft pick to keep an UDFA or similar player. That would be admitting a terrible mistake on draft day before they even get into their rookie season. Most NFL staffs are VERY arrogant, and don't want to admit that sort of failure. Occasionally a draft pick or two will get cut, but its HIGHLY likely that they're all given a free ride for their first season.professorjackson wrote:I was under the impression it was more or less a given Harris would make the Ravens roster. I would say its probably 90% that he'll make the final roster. The only way he gets cut is if he plays himself out of the roster spot. So far in the preseason he has looked pretty terrible, but I don't think bad enough to play himself out.
The QB that Cleveland Drafted (Luke McCown) looked pretty darn good yesterday too. I know I complained and wanted Josh, but it is apparent that McCown is further along than Josh and has better physical tools as well (taller, faster, strong arm).BGGrad01 wrote: On a side note -- the QB Philly drafted ahead of Josh from U. of Delaware looked pretty good.
