Andrew Beam is transferring

Post by BGSU33 »

I don't like hearing this....however, if it's because Pankratz & Schilz have passed him on the depth chart, that would make news like this feel more comfortable to hear:

Yep...good luck by all means. He gave us a quality back up last year but he wants to play this year....nothing wrong with that at all. I've said all along that Pankratz has a chance to be a really good one here. With Schilz on board and Hurley and Watkins committed, we could find ourselves with three QB's on the roster nesxt year rated *** by one or both of the major services (scout and Rivals). I think that would be a first for us, no?

Seems like it might be Flip. We've got a lot of talent coming in at that position.

Unfortunately that usually means you will suffer a transfer or two from the guys that don't get playing time. They won't want to be backups for 4 years.

Sad to see Beam go, he is a great kid and QB. On the other hand, keep your eye on Pankratz, this kid can flat out play.

Good luck, Andrew. Tough situation for him.

I think Pankratz, at this time, is the next guy to step up. But it's good to have quality all over the QB position with this being Tyler's last year.

3 weeks from tonight....BEAT TROY.

I don't think that's a bad thing to have though. Ideally we get a really good QB if they're all competing for the job.

Don't be surprised if Hurley has a huge season and gets an offer from a big time school though. And even if he stays with his committment here it seems like he wants to play right away (see article above) and I could see that being a reason for him to transfer if he doesn't win the job.

As for Beam, good luck.

And speaking of Watkins, is he one of Brandon's guys that committed early? Take a look at this video and tell me that doesn't look like one of GB's types of QBs.

He looks pretty good either way  Rivals has him as a 4.53 40 time too.

Wow, Beam getting beat out by freshman? That is a shocker. I certainly didn't expect that. I had high hopes for Beam but it came down to either him beating out a 3 year starter or holding a clipboard on sidelines for his last season. Obviously no Sr. wants to do that. He did the only logical choice in this situation. Good luck to Beam wherever he goes.

Watkins seems a little like Omar with the critique. Unorthodox throwing motion...hmm, who would that be? Seems like he has potential, but that he'll definitely need to work on the fundamentals of being a QB, such as setting your feet and reading your keys. If you notice in the film, he threw to his first read, even when another receiver was wide open.

The bar is being set pretty high for these new guys coming in, and the pressure must be pretty high on Tyler. Go Tyler! You can do it man!
Thank you Mr. Beam. Step up and make them pay for it (in another conference please :) )!

Bummer for us, but probably good for him. Andrew's a great guy and a very talented QB, but the new pro-style offense probably won't suit his full range of abilities. He's a very good passer, especially with the deep ball, but his running ability adds a whole new level to his game. He reminds me a lot of Dan Lefevour at CMU as far as abilities.

It goes without saying, but we really, really need Tyler to stay healthy! This marks back-to-back years we have seen our backup QB transfer, first with Glaud, and now with Beam. The part that really has me concerned is while neither Glaud or Beam saw a lot of playing time, they both had game experience. Now behind Sheehan, we have guys with as much D-I game experience under their belts as most of the rest of us on this board.

Beam is already listed on the University of Findlay's roster. He'll still be wearing orange just a few miles down 75.
