What happened? He's kicked off the team as per The Sentinel Tribune today.

That's interesting. It looks like Coach Williams isn't afraid to hold his players to his standards. My only disappointment is this; if his actions were enough to be removed from the team why were they not severe enough to affect his scholarship? It seems to me that should have been pulled too. But, I don't know what happened or do I really want to know. I will trust that Coach Williams is doing what is in the best interest of Falcon Hockey.

First I have to say I am disapointed, many of my hopes for this season had been impacted by Mcilrath putting points on the board.
I am however pleased that seemingly, finally BGSU has Coach not afraid to hold his players accountable to the higher standards that all BGSU sports need to hold players accountable too. To that end, while Tod contributed to this team over the last few years he has been removed and as such so should any scholarship money allocated to him for what ever transgression has transpired. even at this late date it is possible to reallocate that money to a contributor.

Awww Crap!!

Despite never being a sexton like player Todd has always contributed as a scrapy hard hitting forward. His play energized the team and crowd when they were down (and they've been down alot the last few seasons)!!

I'd like to see him on the team but I do agree with the others it's good Williams is showing that players must be accountable, esp with the future of the program still questionable. If we have the Cincy Bengals of NCAA hockey I that doesnt look good when we're trying to give the unv. reasons to keep the program alive!

Well that sucks. He was one of my favorite players to watch, just because he always seemed to relish being out there and though he may not have been the most talented guy on the team, he was always working hard and seemed to do a lot to energize the team and the crowd.

However, if he did something to warrant this, then I can't blame the coach for kicking him off. It's important to hold the players to a standard, and mean it. It's just a shame to see him go.

As a long time Bengal fan I totally agree! :?

We need positives not negatives!

I am disappointed to hear McIlrath is gone but this does make a statement about what the coaching staff is standing for.

Just when you thought the roster couldn't possibly take any more hits. This is really surprising to me. I always thought McIlrath was a pretty high character kid, at least from what I had heard from people who knew him.

I'm hoping that his dismissal is for a good reason and not Williams just trying to make an example of someone early on. Either way we'll def. miss him on the ice. He may not have put up a lot of points but he was a good energy guy who could chip in.

He really was a prema-donna that never really lived up to the potential...if there wasn't a scoring chance involved, he didn't work at it...

I guess "2 years and out" was a little off, but not completely!

Before reading this thread this morning I was outside and Todd walked by. I said hello and asked him how he liked the new coach. All he said is he got cut so he didn't really know.

So I made a huge AZZ of myself, but it seemed like from what he said he didn't make the team because of skills more than anything. I felt dumb.
