+1,000,000. DUMP SWEET CAROLINE YESTERDAY. Why can't we just let the Falcon Marching Band jam between quarters? THEY ROCK, SC sucks.

This is a perfect example of just how far behind our AD and Marketing Staff happen to be with promoting our programs. Doyt Perry is our icon. He is as well known in the coaching ranks as Bo or Woody. Even casual football fans outside of the BG community know of Doyt and his contributions. Yet what has our sports marketing leadership done to honor him and simultaneously enhance the image of University? Almost nothing. The new graphic is a start but there is so much more that can be done. Some ideas to help our struggling AD and team? Well how about:

(1) Create a video program for the stadium highlighting Doyt and his great teams. Perhaps an up to date guest spot from Bernie Casey? I think he might be open to participating.

(2) Statue. Duh. Everyone on this board has said the same thing. Mr Christopher, even you should get this.

(3) Special patch for our uniforms celebrating any number of Doyt themes such as our National Championship. The patch would adopt a special logo unique to the overall Doyt marketing effort

(4) Include a promo spot on our broadcasts

(5) Special T-Shirts. Perhaps a graphic that layers the latest BG graphics with the special Doyt logo. Offer these T-Shirts at the Stadium Tent as well as the Bookstore. Oh, one more thing. Make sure you use Addidas garb. And dont screw this up

(6) Next year, make the Doyt Stadium graphic BIGGER

(7) Name one of our Atheletic Complex roads "Doyt Perry Avenue"

(8) Bring members of the NC team to a special half time promotion

(9) Have the team crash through a special Doyt Banner held in front of the tunnel. By the way, we should do this for every game and in part honor the Falcon Club as part of the graphics

(10) How about a Doyt Perry Scholarship which funds one of the football slots. It would include grade point and leadership elements as well.

All fine ideas. What bucket of $$ do you think the man can get the money from?

Ooh! The next three posts should be exciting!

And I'll bet there's a NC team mention at Homecoming, considering they're having a dinner celebrating the team the night before.

most of the items above would be low cost and/or pay for themselves. The statute and skollie would be some cash. I personally would pitch in. But last time I checked, if you hire the right AD, they should be able to figure this out. You put me in the front office and pay my bills, I guarantee most items on this list would be done within 1 season. The rest would take another year perhaps.

Just go ahead and add just about every member of the FMB to that list as most that I've talked to about this just hate that song. Hey Baby was soo much better for an end of the 3rd quarter song. But then again I'm more than a little biased as Hey Baby is basically a tuba song :-D As far as Doyt L. Perry Stadium vs. The Doyt...eh...I'm mostly indifferent about it, although I personally think it just depends on the context of how the name is used.

Have you sat down and talked with the AD about the short/long range plans that WERE in place? And now, with budget cuts, what is currently in place and what is out there if money comes in? Do you know if a statue area is in a plan somewhere? Do you know that the man has 18 sports and 1 team to run?
Put you in the front office and pay the bills...... AGAIN PAY THEM WITH WHAT MONEY? Have you talked to him about what you can donate and what you could cover from the list with your donation?

Geez- let's be excited for School starting and Falcon Sports in Action. They are dressing up the stadium and he should be fired? I need to stay on the Pollyanna forum...easier on the digestion. Really.

Anyone who's been here through the last AD should know how damn lucky we are in terms of fund raising to have a guy like Greg Christopher. We have more money coming into our teams now than any time before.

Is beer being sold this year? I remember last year they were selling Miller Lite during the Buffalo game.

If they are, then they haven't really done much to promote it at all...but then again it could just be something that's stated in a letter to people who receive tickets, as I wouldn't imagine any college promoting the fact that they would be selling alcohol.

I kinda got the impression that was an attempt to lure a few more people to that game, and that it won't become a regular thing.
