Destractions are indeed needed. Hire some carrolers to show up after halftime. Set up the oven timer so dinner will ding about halfway through the 4th. Borrow someone's cell phone and call her's right before any third down situations - hang up after the play starts.

And if it goes into overtime, it never hurts to have the ring handy - just make sure you can kneel with a view of the TV. If you're a true fan, you can take that one for the team.
