Be prepared for a cultural shock with the landscape. If you're used to moutains and jaw dropping scenery, BG is the absolute opposite. FLAT like nobody's business due to the glaciers during the Ice Age. The biggest hill in BG is man made on the golf course.

Actually it's not that different. Most of southern Idaho is desert and extremely flat. The only real difference is that out here we have the mountains in the distance. As a matter of fact, my fiance and I were driving to one of the local county fairs when I had to comment that it was almost impossible to homesick, things looked almost exactly like Ohio.

bsubronco I am extremely jealous. I've been living in the Magic Valley for about a year now, and won't be able to make it to BG this year for a game. I do want to try and make a BSU game this year. Made last years BG game, and you guys have one of the best gameday atmospheres I've ever seen. I want to experience it from the home team point of view, rather than the visitor. Good luck with your trip.

oh, and fwiw, I vote Polleyes, but Myles is a close second.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. It sounds as if I'll be packing on some weight from all the new food I'll be trying while in Ohio. We have purchased our tickets for the section next to the visiting area, the bottom portion of section 12 I believe.

True southern Idaho can be pretty dry. Boise is right at where the mountains meet the Snake River plains. So there are a bunch of different type of terrain to use as your playground. I drive 30 minutes one way and I'm skiing in the mountains. I drive 30 minutes the other way and hunting antelope on the plains.


Anyways, this is my first time to Ohio so I'm excited to see a new state and see what Ohio has to offer.

The Toledo Zoo is looking sharper these days. I know a year ago as the transition to the new director was underway, it looked a bit rough around the edges. But they've done much to improve that from what I saw last month.

It is a very nice little zoo, and by little, I mean it is physically compact. Easy to stroll in a day. A great many very fine WPA era buildings. The food seems improved and fair priced. The train ride = waste. But otherwise a good time.

The Toledo Museum of Art, if this is remotely your kind of thing, is a must. The building and collection are simply well beyond what anybody would expect in NW Ohio. (in fact that tends to be the most common note: "Amazing place, I can't believe it is in Toledo.) It is a true gem and consistently surprises folks who travel through and discover it. Nice vistor reviews here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/toledo-museum-of-art-toledo Indeed, they might do well to sell you on the trip up to see them.

If you're just coming for the game and not planning on going to Toledo for sight seeing, I would suggest you get a room in Findlay. It's about a half hour south of BG and will therefore make your drive back to the Cincy airport that much easier. While in Findlay stop at Dietsch Bros. for chocolate and ice cream and the Greentree Tavern for Italian.

In BG I would say the place to go is Myles'.

I highly recommend DiBenedetto's Italian Bistro!! Owned and operated by a local family who have been in BG for a LONG time! Absolutely AWESOME authentic Italian food! It's located on South Main and easy to get to from the stadium.
