Then again, maybe he really did mean "shot in the dark."
Reading the original quote in it's original context, he had to have meant "shot in the arm."

I know. It was a poorly-executed attempt at some kind of humor. Not even really sure what I meant other than perhaps it was just a desperate attempt by a struggling coaching staff to try something, anything, different. The fact that it worked was pure luck, which was in short supply for that staff anyway.

Over 15 years as a season ticket holder in football and basketball, I want an answer to why Rice is not at running back. After what he did last year during the times he touched the ball, it's a valid question. I don't care if Brandon is coaching or Urban Meyer. Why isn't he back there running the ball?

The current coach thinks he would be a better service to the team on defense, and from the sounds of things, Rice is ok with that decision. That's why. That's the answer. Get over it.

Because the coach feels either A) Rice can better help the team as a LB, or B) He was so far down on the depth chart at RB he wouldn't contribute anyway, and he's better served at LB.

Either way it comes down to this simple answer: The Coach feels that the team is better with Rice at LB than he is at RB. It's not a conspiracy to prevent us from scoring points. It's not some deeply harbored hatred of sushi. The coach just feels that this is what's best for the team.

Personally, I don't see what you're so bent out of shape about. Rice had all of 16 carries last year. Did he look good in those carries? Sure, he did. But that isn't exactly a sample size large enough to act like they just benched the next Barry Sanders. He was a bottom of the depth chart RB (former WALK ON) who had one good game when he was needed as a fill-in last year.

I just don't see why you're so bent out of shape about this. He was likely going to be no better than 3rd on the depth chart at RB this year (again behind Geter & Bullock). Again, this is hardly worth harping on.

Which, of course, begs the question: Why are you still trying to talk sense into this f**ktard?

Wow, it's not often that I make a really concise post and then somebody else says almost the same thing in a much longer post. This feels backwards.

Coaches feel he would be better used elsewhere

Last year was last year and this year is a new year

In case you haven't heard, there is a new sheriff in town. His name....Clawson. Dave Clawson.

The thing that perhaps most bothers me is that simply because you have paid money to guarantee yourself a seat at every home game, you somehow think you're entitled to some kind of special inside info. The only thing your money has bought you is those seats, sorry. Is it true that any university loves having that income from season ticket holders and would certainly hate to lose it? Of course. But at the same time, just because you bought season tickets doesn't really make you any more special or any more privy to information than the rest of the fans.

I don't mean to knock season ticket holders, in fact, if I find myself living within a reasonable driving distance someday when I have the disposable income to afford season tickets, I will definitely buy them. I think it's great to show that much support for the team to make what is essentially a big donation and to be in the stands for every game. I just fail to see how being a season ticket holder (regardless of how long you have been one) gives one the right to make demands of the team.
