Hockey Vlogging and 5,000

Post by BGDrew »

While I'm sure everyone's getting excited for football to get started the Falcon Icers will be getting back to practice later in September. Seeing all of Ryan's awesome work for football's training camp has given me an idea. I'd like to do something similar for the hockey team. My major ideas right now are to hopefully take my weekly game previews and put them up in video form. I have a contact into the hockey SID in hopes that I may be able to interview some guys during the week and possibly some coaches. Also, I'd love if we could get into the post-game press conferences and get video of those. What would everyone's thoughts be about this? Honestly, if you don't think it'd be something you'd want to watch just let me know so I don't make too big of a fool of myself. But, if this is something you'd think you'd want to watch just let me know and give any ideas or requests you have.

At this time, I don't really have any thoughts as to where the content is going to go. I'm not sure if Grant is going to want to put it up here or if he'd prefer it stay off-site, but I promise that it will be shared here first. Also, if this goes through I would love to get some members here involved as well. We have some great members who have some unbelievable memories and I would love to get your thoughts and memories on video. Again, use this thread for ideas, concerns, and questions.

Now, I've also hit 5,000 posts with this topic and just wanted to thank everyone here for being a great group of people and thank Grant for giving me somewhere to vent and rejoice. We have something pretty cool here and I think we sometimes take it for advantage. So to Grant and everyone else who contributes, thank you and Roll Along!

I think it is actually a very cool idea. I had planed on making game highlights of footage I shot at this years games, I would love to have been able to go as far as what your talking about, but I honestly do not have the time, and I sure would appreciate anything you did on that end. The more exposure the program gets, the better it is for the program.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

In the beginning it's going to look like just the occasional update with me talking about different issues and topics that have come up in the CCHA and BGSU hockey. Eventually I'd like to get some students and alumni involved too.

Good stuff!

Though next time, could you turn some lights off before you start recording? :-D

If you're gonna write some stuff up again this year, I could probably find a place for it at BGSUsports.com.

Still planning on doing a general text form of what I'll talk about so you're more than welcome to use it. I'm also updating the All Sports calendar as I get around to it.

And regarding the lights I...can't argue with you on that one. I got a face for podcasting.

Just a quick update on somethings:

- Grant gave me the OK to make this an AZZ.com thing so I'm excited to make this about the community. What this means is I'm going to need some help. I'd love to interview some of you to get your thoughts on Falcon hockey and get some memories. Also, for those who have an in with the program I'd love to be able to get a press pass. I've always thought that we've been missing the boat on getting quotes from players and coaches after the games and seeing it in person.

- Does anybody got a schedule for when camp is going to officially start? I'd like to clear it with the coaches and SID before I start taping some practice footage.

- If anyone would like to help out in any way please feel free to PM, e-mail, or reply here. Again, I want to make this about us and our connection to hockey and to celebrate what we have.
