According to the Sentinel-Tribune four Troy players will miss the opener, including their second leading tackler on defense in 2008.

Whoa...Bear Woods is one of the players out for the game? According to the ST,

OUT FOR TROY: Four Trojans, who had earned spots on the depth chart, will miss the Bowling Green game.
Linebacker Bear Woods, Troy's second-leading tacker in 2008 with 108, was declared ineligible by the NCAA for Troy's first two games of the season.
Cornerback Jorrick Calvin, a preseason All-Sun Belt selection, is academically ineligible for the season. Calvin was also Troy's top kick returner.
Backup left tackle Tyler Graves was declared ineligible for the first three games of the season by the NCAA.
Backup quarterback Tanner Jones is out for the season after knee surgery.

Woods and Calvin, especially, are huge losses for Troy.

OK, I'll be THAT guy- does anyone want to venture a guess as to Mr. Woods' middle name?

Calvin is the only loss that was unexpected. He will be missed in the secondary more than anything. Bear played two plays his redshirt year, and the NCAA decided that would cost him 2 games. Donell Golden will not be much of a drop off at LB. Graves suspension is due to him being involved in the scandal at FSU. Tanner Jones at QB was in a battle with last years starter, but both were ultimately beat about by sophmore Dan Parker.

No excuses, but we'll take what they give.

Golden started three games last season in place of Woods when Bear was out with an injury. There's no drop off at that position. Calvin is probably a little bigger loss because it's in the secondary and that's where we need more experience.

This has the chance to be a good game tonight. I think it will be a very close game, regardless of who wins.
