An interesting recruiting tidbit...
The story over on JJ Huddle is that we lost a DB recruit from Colerain named Mickens to Cincy. Apparently, we gave him a take it or leave it offer. He initally took it and then decided he was offended by the way we offered him.
I guess we have our class pretty well locked up if we're telling kids that they have to commit now or they'll lose the spot....

I work very closely with the West Virginia football programs as well as the local High Schools. When we were broadcasting the state championship games I was talking to the coach of Morgantown High about where some of his players were being recruited by and he told me that his kicker, Patrick Schadle was being recruited by BG.
This kid is one of the best High School kickers I've ever seen. In the five games of theirs I was actually at, I saw a total of three kickoffs that weren't touchbacks (and this is a team that scores at will). In one playoff game, he hit the upright with a kick and on the next one put it through the uprights. He also has great range on FGs, a rarity for High School kickers.
The only other two schools I know of recruiting him are WVU and Syracuse. I have a feeling he ends up at WVU since it's home for him and all of their kickers suck. Syracuse could be a contender since it's indoors. As much as I'd like to see him play at BG, I have a feeling he probably won't, but if you see his name as a BG signee, know we've picked up a great replacement for Suisham.

Shadle's name has come up all season long on www.theinsiders.com, the difference between him and Rick Albreski is that Albreski was considered a three star recruit versus Shadle's two stars and Albreski was reported to have had an offer. The internet is far from 100%, but Shadle is not reported to have an offer.
Again, the net is far from 100%, but the two "targets" at Colerain appear to be Brayden Coombs, a stud DB and D-1 Defensive POY Terrill Byrd. Coombs, according to Dad/Coach Kerry Coombs "generally guards the other teams' best receiver" per Rivals.com . . . Byrd is an undersized DT at 5-11/265 but is blazing quick at a reported 4.7 . . . This may have been a ploy to get a 3-for-1 deal a la Lewis, Wright and Moss but JJHuddle is filled with overzealous parents and pretend HS "boosters" that have numberous issues and reasons to report especially in prime recruiting season. It's has somewhat turned into an E-bay situation where you put something up and no one bids, so you have your buddies bid on the item for you to drive up the costs and interests.
I wouldn't see how tonight's offensive showing would hurt us with any WR, OL or RB prospects and defensively we did a great job of showing we need significant help at DB and LB.

BGSU doesnt need to worry about getting a kicker. We already have a execellent kicker in Eric Soltis. He is being redshirted this year and I know we can be expecting huge things from him in the future. I've seen him kick in high school and he a really strong leg.
