Sorry, but please no trucker hats or tractors. As pointed out, this is Bowling Green State University, not the city of Bowling Green. If the city wants to recognize the tractor pull in their logos/signage then let them do it, but not the university.
I did like the motorcycle though, that was pretty cool!

Re: Gameday Experience Observations
I thought the FMB did a great job of playing during the game. Maybe it depended on where you were.
I admit, I hate Sweet Caroline, but the kids really got into it, so hey- I'll try to adapt to these new fangled things.
BUT, I am I think, the 2nd oldest on this board, and even I know that "Full Pull" sounds VERY VERY risque' and not something you want to leave to a college kid's interpretation. The posters who said to leave what happens in Town, stay in town, for this matter anyways, are right IMHO.
Watching the students line up to get in - where is the ability to open another gate?- was awesome, and having them stay throughout the game and cheer the team on - well it's been a long time.
It was an awesome day to be a Falcon, but then isn't it always?
( And I'm sorry- I've been to 3 OSU games- and I really don't get the whole sacred band thing?????) Give me the opening of the FMB with the cymbals clashing and the prelude to the Forward Falcons and There's the goosebumps. It is all in the perspective.

Re: Gameday Experience Observations
Love the Full Pull idea. Hate the rest. I never understood why anyone wanted to embrace the redneck culture. When I think redneck, I think KKK, country music and incest - Kentucky, basically.
Re: Gameday Experience Observations
Not sure if this really bears any real connection to this discussion;
I taught a band camp this Summer with a kid from osu's marching band. He was VERY excited to inform me about one of their big game day rehearsal traditions on the first day we were there. They do not play their instruments at all during the morning rehearsal and instead sing everything. In the middle of their pregame show run through they salute the visiting school by playing their fight song. Since 2006 no song other than Forwad Falcons, no matter who they are playing, ever gets sung at that part of their run-through. Just imagine, those silly blue uniforms belting out in unison the descending line of Forward Falcons. Turned out to be a pretty good week.

Thats a self made name. They were never crowned or have a trophy. Drive south and the concensus is that the FAMU Marching 100 is the best band in the country, no ifs ands or buts.VDub26Falcon wrote: Sorry Strouse but they aren't called TBDBITL for nothing.

Drive just a few hours West of your location and I'm pretty sure most folks would say it's The Pride of the Southland Band.moneymaker02 wrote:Thats a self made name. Point being, it's all regional. There is no one "best band."

Re: Gameday Experience Observations
I am not an expert on bands, but there are different styles of bands, too. Some are all brass, so obviously they're gonna sound different from the FMB. Not necessarily better, not necessarily worse, just different. I thought Troy's band was good, I thought the FMB sounded good, and I like OSU's band as well.
And I agree with dforde -- I thought the motorcycle was pretty sweet!

Re: Gameday Experience Observations
Now that you mention it, what was the story with that motorcycle? Did they mention anything about it?

I was shocked to see it, but boy was it sweet, even the Troy fans commented on it and said they now want to get one custom made for their mascot.
6500 miles couldn't stop me from cheering on my Falcons!

I didn't get to see the motorcycle, obviously, but I am definitely jealous that Freddie got to ride it out there!

Hopefully the chopper stays...once it got fired up before the team took the field, it really got the guys fired up as well. The only thing I was worried about was that Freddie was going to get his tail caught up in the wheel

Re: Gameday Experience Observations
I like the enthusiasm and brainstorming of new ideas....but.....I WILL NEVER, EVER yell full pull....PERIOD! I'm glad the National Tractor Pulls are a part of this town, as it does much for the local economy, but it has absolutely nothing to do with college football, Falcons or BGSU. Absoultely Nothing. Keep working on those ideas...but try to keep it BGSU and/or Falcons related...please!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Should have seen it in person. It was worth the price of admission

For the longest time there was the tradition of Amstutz yelling "NOT FULL!" in the UT cafeterias.

I think "Full Pull" would be pretty cool after first downs, actually.
