Of course he's lying- he's from ESPN. Nevertheless, it appears there is something to it and I'm not sure that Scooter is being completely honest either.

Sorry to be off topic, but after I watched Scooter's video, I scrolled down on the right side and watched a few other videos. A really interesting one was called, "Lou Gehrigs's Letters." It was very good. If you are a baseball fan or know/knew anyone who has had Lou Gehrig's Disease, you will find this video very poignant.
